Default New Shelby's going to be showing up at the strips

So Ford and Shelby American anounced that the 2013 GT500 will be a 5.8ltr S/C V8 based off the Ford GT S/C 5.4. It will spin to 7k and make 650hp and cost under 65k. Look for some **** talking GT500 owners Late next season at your local tracks. Any LT1 own that stomps one.... I want to see a video so I can splash it all over my buddies Mustang forum lol. http://editorial.autos.msn.com/blogs...4582b7&_nwpt=1

Ive read about it already. Seems like most of the new muscle cars are running low twelves off the show room floor. The new SRT dodges are VERY strong. Im hearing mid-twelves with the autos with just average drivers driving them. Im interested in seeing the real world times of these new GT500s. Im guessing traction will be an issue.

On a steet tire I can't see this thing doing anything but being an epic fail. Should be interesting to see if Shelby just lets the HP do the talking or if they will actually make it put it to the ground with some serious suspention redesigning.

I used to be impressed with stuff like this then I came to the realization that anyone can make that kind of power and exceed it in their own garage for a fraction of the cost.

Don't get me wrong the Coyote engine is pretty damn good engine but the block is completely limited displacement wise.

You mean the new 5.0 that makes more power with bolt-ons than your heads/cam car? Or the new gt500 that has 650hp and will do 200mph with a warranty and modern saftey equipment?

Stupid ford for coming out with these new cars when everyone can buy a piece of **** 15-20 year old f-body and do the same thing.

Most likely those who buy these cars won't be the drag racing type therefore it will be few and far between to see any sort of impressive numbers if one is seen at the strip. GM needs to stop flapping their gums and step up.

i would not expect to see on at the track either. the only GT500 we have down here that doesn't sit in the garage just does 30-40 rolls and lets out somewhere around 180. i do not think it has ever been to the track.

I saw a brand spanking new ZL-1 on I-95 heading south at the GA/FL border this morning. I don't know if it was a test car or if they are in dealerships yet, but there was no mistaking the vented hood and spoiler. It was more orange than red, but it had the same black stripes as the concept car. I know they are not 650hp, but they sure are a move in the right direction. Now if they will just commit to building the COPO drag pak that they debuted at SEMA.

They should have no problem running 10's stock with a set of slicks. Pretty impressive for a car that will likely cost <60k.

It's a shame you guys never drove a stock 375HP 396 Camaro in 67. Mine with nothing but headers, slapper bars and tires ran 11.86 the first day at the strip. And it cost $3050 brand new. Waited 11 weeks for it to come after I ordered it, but it was worth it.

Yea I have not been impressed with the high price tags that come with these new muscle cars. I could do with out all the entertainment options and plastic bolton parts if they could find a way to get these V8's below 30K and more around 23k to 27k range. Problem is people want them so they charge more lol. Never understood that business model but then again I may just be wanting too much for nothing. Don't get me wrong I like some of the older cars that you can put that money into and make alot better then most stock productions but I like the designs of the new stuff but they are all fat pigs (except maybe the stang) in the sports coupe market.

You mean the new 5.0 that doesn't like oil? Or blows up on a monthly basis with just a tuner? And ford has more excuses than dollars on why to deny coverage?

Yeah, that's what I want.

I know for a fact these guys are gonna buy the car just to brag like my friend who runs a
Pepboys speed shop. This Guy gets everything free since he takes his car to sema . This Guy Alex never takes his **** to the track pushing 650 rwhp.

Hate to say it since I have always been a GM guy, but if I were buying a new muscle car today it would be a new Mustang.

The Camaro is available as a race car.

No idea how to title it, or how much it costs, but GM has all the parts to build it.

There is no way to title a BIW or the hopefully upcoming COPO, GM does not issue them a VIN and they do not meet highway safety standards. Beware, the BIW is just what it states, just a camaro body, nothing else. Everything else must be bought like you said or fabricated. They are a good starting point, but even using one to rebody an old race car you better be prepared to drop some more coin on trim, lights, windows, etc. In a lot of cases it might be cheaper just to start with SS, that GM catalogue can get expensive real quick.
