Posting this for a friend who just bought a 95 z28. Motor has a front seal leak and needs to be gone over. He has found a lt1 from a 93 that has heads, cam, and has been bored .030 over. For the money its a better deal than pulling his motor and redoing everything. The motor is from a 93 though and I wasnt sure if there was any differece in anything motor or wiring related from a 93 to 95 with 93 being the first year. Im not very familiar with the Lt1 in general but this is one of the better tech forums so i thought id post the question for him and see if anybody had any info on it. Thanks in advance

The 93's were kind of a different year from the rest of the LT1's. Im not sure on all of the specifics, but I know the '93 had:
Speed Density tune (no Mass Airflow/MAF)
Non-Vented Optispark
Different intake manifold
Different fuel rails
Different fuel line setup
And different O2 censors if I remember right
Im sure there is more differences too

Just a few things though that you will need to do for sure (some have already been mentioned.)
Swap 95 Intake, fuel rails, timing cover, opti, adjust dowel pin on the 93 cam (not exactly sure on the specs), Oil pressure sensor is located by the oil filter on the 93 motor compared to the 95 which is behind the intake manifold. I think i'm forgetting a few items yet.

Yep that should help him out a bit. I would like to get that stickied possibly or I'll make a new one actually with as much info as possible for all LT1 years. Not sure if we have one or not?

Yes, that is why you need to change timing covers because the non-vented opti is a spline drive and will not fit on the 95 cover. Also I believe the plug is different between the 2 optis. Just use your 95 opti and timing cover. But make damn sure the dowel pin on the 93 cam is at the right length otherwise you will have major problems.

Found it!
On late 94-97 LT1s, the dowel pin extends .625"
92-early 94 cam dowel pin length should be .340"
Also just to be absolutely sure, use a digital caliper if you have one and measure the pin on the 95 cam and then match that to the 93 cam. That way it won't be too long and ruin the Opti or too short and not drive the Opti.
I believe you can tap the pin in with a RUBBER mallet (I don't recomend a hammer unless you're very careful). It can be a pain in the *** to pull back out sometimes though.
