You can expect to pay thru the nose if you find one of the hyper rare bowtie blocks. Here is some interesting reading-

If I hit a big pay out on the power ball I will buy all the research Dart put into it and pump them out at a loss. Will make some of those quad cam heads too lol.

I was thinking about calling world products about doing a limited run. But I don't have the coin right now.

That was depressing when Dart pulled out, they should have just done a limited run and seen where it took them.

I got an email a while back from someone looking for people interested in a first-batch type of a run. I got put onto a list as did many other guys in here. I don't remember the exact amount of people they needed to be confirmed to go ahead though. I'm thinking it was 50 but i'm not positive. I haven't heard anything since then.

About a year or so ago, a bunch of us signed up to get a new round of the GMPP big bore LTX blocks remade. I signed up to pay (I am still willing) for a new one if they were given the green light. But sadly I havent heard anything in a very long time

Dart says they cancelled the block because their distrubtors didn't 'have enough interest' for people to buy them.

2 years ago Dart got our hopes up and then dropped us on our faces. Whined about tooling costs. Won't buy anything from Dart after that letdown.

They made the announcement shortly after the big recession hit. That thread on their board is one of the most viewed/replied threads they've ever had.

its not so much the cubes we need as its the bore diameter and cylinder wall thickness.

Someone at the company just flat out killed the product. I was a bit skeptical that it would ever be built, and then they said hey we are going to do it. I don't see why they can't at least invest R&D in a lt1 block. R&D should be looked at as an investment in the companies future, its hard to say we are the best when nothing has changed as far as an lt1 block is concerned. Initially it doesn't pay to be the ground breaker in a new market segment, but you sure do look like you know what you are doing when no one else has anything close to your product. So name your price and profit.

what do you guys think about calling world products and seeing if they are willing to do a limited run?

they are doing a limited run of 409 blocks right now so there's a small possibility they would entertain the idea.

So the hp gain from more cubes is ok. But with thicker walls I'm guessing uncan push the motor more? More boost bigger shot? Or what exactly would u benefit from a bigger bore and thicker walls?

How much do u think it would be for an aftermarket block?

with the bigger bore it doesn't shroud the valves as much. think of it this way. when the valve opens the cyl wall is impeding the airflow on the side of the valve. if you move the wall further away the blocking effect is reduced.

the increase in cyl wall thickness helps with both longevity a and ring seal. be leave it or not the cyl walls distorts to some degree under sever load. that's why some guys solid fill the blocks.

cost hopefully would be less than 3k. i cant see them selling well if they cost more than that.

I used to be a tenant of Billy Mitchell, I know for sure that he will entertain any idea that can make him some money.

5 grand is a bit steep for a block though. Are there that many 409 nuts out there? We need an LT1 song....

alot of the baby boomers are big 409 fans. I know my father would buy one if he had the cash and a project to put it in. He just spent all his cash on 70 challenger with a hemi lol. Damn hemi swallowed a valve 30 min after he spent 30k on the car. Called the guy he bought it from and he gave him money back to buy a new engine which was really nice of the guy. Dad bought a monster turn key hemi to replace it. Cant wait to go up and drive that bad boy.

LOL! Forgot I started that thread!

On that note I can imagine the possibilities and the combinations with that block. Many people can put the AFR 235 or 245 heads on that block with the bigger bore!
