I have 2+ years and 10,000+miles on a cardone select all new unit from advance auto parts.. It has a lifetime warranty, they can't turn u away at the counter if you have a warranty issue, you don't pay for shipping units back and forth and it's only $200...
It's a no brainer buy one @ your local advance or online for a discount..
I did however fit mine with an MSD cap and rotor, loctited the rotor screws and siliconed the cap and harness connection..
I've been thru rain ,heat and power washes and still ticking.. Matter of fact ,it's going on my 383 in may..
So **** a $400 Mexican made delco. Lol

A little over a month ago I just put in an MSD opti. Yeah it was pricey but I have someone directly to yell at if it craps out sooner than it should.

I put in a Chandler one and it didn't even work out of the box. Its still sitting on my bench. I should beat him with it. Dropped in a Delco and boom, worked.

Get an AC Delco or Delphi. Anything else would seem to be an unnecessary risk.

Dynaspark life time warantee and if you have a issue the owner will personaly call you to make sure its resolved. They went back to the mit. optical sensor and havnt had any issues.

If I was going to get anything other than OEM, Dynaspark would probably be the route I would take. The only thing I would be concerned about is support. Hasn't that company changed hands a few times, and weren't they essentially out of business for awhile?

From my experience, the best advice I can give is to go with an OEM unit. The key IMO is getting a good reliable sensor... meaning an original sensor from Mitsubishi and protecting it from water, oil, etc. as best you can. My tips: Loctite on the rotor screws; Make sure your vacuum harness is in good condition (and has the one-way valve + filter/restrictor); Inspect/replace your opti wiring harness when you replace the unit; Finally, additional sealing with silicone can also help keep the elements out. I recommend Dow Corning 734 Flowable Silicone Sealant if you're looking to really seal it up - It's self-leveling so it conforms to irregular surfaces very well. The only problem is it's not commonly found at Auto parts houses, but you can get it from McMaster-Carr #75825A1.

As far as Dynaspark goes, you will no longer find a Mitsubishi sensor in them. Only the "originals" from years ago came with an OEM sensor.

Dynaspark reply 8/24/11 - "I am unable to purchase the mitsibishi sensors unless I buy 20,000 units. I use a sensor purchase through AIP electronics in california."

Dynaspark uses the same, "hit-or-miss" sensor as units that are 1/4 the cost.

Then personaly called me to make sure it was working right. Even sent me some shirts and hats

How long have you had the unit? After reading the above post, are you sure they're using Mitsubishi optical sensors? It sounds like that might not be the case.

Those threads were some discouraging reads for anyone that has ever considered purchasing a Dynaspark. Based on everything I've read, those used to be great pieces. I haven't heard much about them in many years.
