Default Gm Cam 19244485 NOT GM847

The GM performance parts cam #19244485 is NOT for LT1/LT4's. This cam is for Gen 1 engines. Ordered one got it in and it will not work with the opti spark. I have already contacted Summit about this cam being mislabled.

Is it just missing the longer dowel?

I thought on some cams you have to cut the dowel down because its to long. So you either need to grind some off, or pound it in deeper.

When I bought a GM 847 years ago, it came with a different dowel to put in if it was to be used on a LT motor with a dowel driven opti (95 up).

It doesnt have the hole for the opti-spark. Now if you have access to a machine shop you can drill that hole to the right size and and depth and it will work.

I ordered that cam from a local chevy dealer 2 monthes ago and it fit fine. My opti dowel only goes through the cam gear but not into the camshaft itself. My 94 Z28 has been running okay despite stock tune.

It's running "ok" with a stock tune with that big *** cam? I find that very hard to seriously believe...I'll bet a completely stock lt1 would beat it with no tune whatsoever. Get a tune!

What I meant by okay is that it runs and drives I know its not going to run 12 seconds in the quarter mile. It does pull pretty hard in the high rpm range though! I am buying Tunercat in a week or so.

just ordered my GM847 from a dealer as well and your right it does not have the hole in the center of the cam for the optispark but if you have a lt1 with a non vented opti like my 93 you dont need the hole so the cam will work
