I used Speartech, they modified my original harness.

AFAIK painless doesn't make OE replacement harnesses for the LT1 F-Car. Just parts/pieces/pigtails. I recently emailed them hunting for a replacement for my LT1.

Since you would be using it in a classic car, I have never heard anything bad about painless but have never used them either. Sorry I can't be of more help.

the pictures of the 69 corvette are going to be a while I haven't built a web page yet. I am sending the engine out to the machine shop when I get back from vacation. It wont be anything special just a nice 350 with a small cam haven't picked anything specific yet.

I though about using a stock harness. This has all the relays and stuff built right into it even the one for the fuel pump. When they modified your harness did they do that? or did they just strip out the unnecessary stuff?

It came with the fuel relay, aldl port and the check engine light. Stripped of the things not needed and an easy 5 or so wire hook up.

cool Ill have to check them out and see what we they can do as apposed to the painless set up. I really appreciate the tip. One last thing for the did that come set up for fans? I am guessing if I asked them for something they could make it happen though.

Keep in mind that the term "Painless" should ONLY be used in context to identify the name of the company. There is still much hard wiring to do - cutting, crimping, soldering, shrink-wrapping, taping, making various connections/grounds, etc. It is a lengthy process if you've never done it before.

No the biggest wiring job I have ever done is a boat trailer and I would not consider that in the same league as a car. I have done a few repair jobs to wiring harness to car we have restored but again kinda different then trying to connect to different system. My father worked for the telephone company for 35 years as a cable splicer/fiber optic specialist. hopefully that brings some experience to this as well.

I guess we will just have to see how it goes.

It came with the feed wire from the computer that you hook to a relay to feed the fan or fans.

I just contacted them. On their webpage it doesn't say anything about lt1 engines.

If you contact them just tell them what you are doing and see if they'll modify your harness. They used to sell complete LT1 packages but the LT1 is almost an antique. Now that I think about it, it's been 11 years since I did the swap. Hopefully they can still help.

Well for what it's worth back in the day I had an original 73 Z28 that the previous owner had hacked up the harness and age also played a factor in all of the electrical shorts and gremlins. I got one of their 18 circuit muscle car harnesses and completely rewired the car from bumper to bumper and it was easy as each wirle was labeled the entire length of the wire as to what it was for and the only connectors which i had to splice were the rear tail light pigtails.

they said they don't touch lt1 stuff anymore because they are to busy with lsx stuff. personally I think it is silly because work is work but its not my business so.

I can't blame them to be honest. The LTX platform spanned 5 years 15-20 years ago while the LSX platform extends from 97 to current - a span of 15 years and it's still going strong. Makes no (business) sense to keep investing in dead technology.

I guess the way I looked at is they already did it so how could it hurt to continue doing it but I guess if you have to keep training people its not worth it.

Its not really a big deal I will figure something out. Worse comes to worse I will sit down with some wiring diagram and figure it out on my own. If you don't do it you will never learn right?

Thumbs up

I used the painless 60502 harness when I had an LT1 in my camaro. It was a great piece and everything was clearly labeled. It uses the factory style 8051 PCM and was easy to install. Painless' tech support was really helpful when I had some questions.
