Default Goodbye LT4......

The LT4 cylinder head is now discontinued and out of stock at GM.

Sad.

Sucks for nostalgia more then anything else since I doubt many people were buying them from GM still.

Lt4 was a missed opportunity that could have been so much more then it was if they didn't cut so many corners and neglect it as a temporary platform until LS came along.

Thankfully we shouldn't see any more "I want to convert my LT1 to an LT4, what do I need" threads.

Is a ported LT4 superior to a ported LT1, or is their advantage limited to out of the box?

Yes, but like everything else it depends on the build. For a hotcam or 503 I wouldn't bother.

The price is what kills their usability, you can get aftermarket castings for not much more and have more potential.

Probably because in the beginning it was a fact the LT4 vettes and LT4 SS ran like a scald *** ape compared to a LT1 f-body.

Yep, they are gone. We sold our last stock as well. We do still have three sets of CNC ported LT4 heads ready, although it looks like we won't ever be able to do any more once they are gone.

After riding in my tuners h/c Z06 I can see why no one wants to deal with the ltx platform anymore. There's something to be said about a car that can trap at the upper end of the 130mph spectrum and have the exact same street manners as if the car was stock.

Well if someone doesnt want to deal with the LTX platform, thats their loss, plus stock street manners are boring..Everyone and their mother is on the LSX train, and I refuse to hop on it..I mean it may not make sense and all since an LTX can never be as good as an LSX,its just not possible..*sarcasm*

Perhaps it's because a nice LT1 fbody is (average numbers here) $5,000 and a decent LS1 Fbody is $10,000 (not to mention it's 100% the same car except for the motor as an LT1 car, with all the same weaknesses. Wait! theres that damn opti that goes out every 150k miles or when you drive through a river...what a piece of ****! ) and a decent C5 Z06 is $20,000?

Not hating on LSx cars of course, I love them, respect them, and I've seen the numbers-they're better motors and amazing bang for the buck. All i'm getting as is I just think it's rediculous when LS1 owners just "can't understand" why anyone would mod an LT1 car...

However, after riding on an airplane, I'm not sure why people deal with cars at all.

lol

Sort of the same logic when LT1 owners cannot understand why there are those who will mod a V6 f-body. Especially when you can make 450+rwhp out of a simple heads/cam/intake swap on the stock bottom end with a LSx platform without having to rev it to the moon.
