Default Car dies randomly while driving opinions please

Yesterday driving all happy and then the gauges go wild, car backfires and dies. No iginition at all. As I'm rolling I turn the key off and on, put it in gear, try to get it going again. Nothing just engine braking so I pull over.
Lights are good, all connections to battery and alternator look good. Try to start it, no start. Lots of cranking, absolutely no iginition, no sputtering, nothing. Wait 2 minutes, sputters then dies.
Flick my battery cutoff switch to off, wait 1 minute, flick to on, car starts perfectly and I drive away!

4 minutes later same thing happens, guages bounce around car dies. I coast to a stop, get out, flick battery switch on and off, get in, drive away.
2 minutes later some thing happens. Get out, pop hood again, check all wires and ground straps and plugs, coil plugs, etc. etc. go over the whole harness everything is good.
Disconnect wires to alternater since I think maybe it's got a bad rectifier or something.
Start car on battery only, drive all the way to Midas (first shop I saw).

They test everything and can't find anything wrong.
Battery 770 CCA
Starter draw normal
Charging system including alternator no problems at all.

$37.50 later, I drive out of there and for the rest of the day the car works fine. At the end of the day I drive home 1/2 hour car drives the whole way fine.

No codes to pull since I flicked the battery cutoff everything is cleared.

Now I'm scared to drive it and get stranded far away. Drag race day is coming! Any ideas?

oh man... tough.

I had issues with my car when it died on me and it was the alternator that went bad. But yours is able to turn on again right?

I also had issues with my batt terminal. It was on tight but it needed a washer to really contact the battery with the terminal.

Hope you figure it out.

I had a problem with the coil wire coming off the opti. Just for laughs make sure it's locked down all the way. Or junk under under your icm pig tail

Did u have fuel pressure at the time it died? Fuel pump relay was replaced on mine. Then later it started hapening again...no fire. Turned out to be the MSD6AL box randomly shutting down. MSD is no longer in my system. Stock set up should handle ignition just fine.

I had a bad ground on my car that caused that same situation, it went away for a while and then came back and it caused a dead short in the battery.
