Ive been to the last three years worth of shootouts, and I (not saying I know all) had not heard anything about that incident.

Let me start by saying that was 5 shootouts ago, and before I knew what LTXtech or the shootout were. But I have since met Taner, and he is a very nice person. I can say Im just as guilty when it comes to getting heated about things. Im not naming names but SS RRR you know what Im talking about. It happens to all of us... sometimes someone does or says something that rubs us the wrong way. Im not sure where this conversation is going, because it started with discussing a section for advanced tech type discussions rather than the simpler newb type discussions.
Just trying to understand.

Not at all. BUT If you raced on a regular basis you would under stand what was going on and WHY someone getts so heated. It has nothing to do with how fast the car is but how important the race is or in fact just good sportsmanship

yb is a wealth of information. Not a lot about LT1's specifically but anything else related to going REALLY fast down a racetrack, plus some CRAZY off-topic stuff.

*edit* Depends on the car too, 10s with nitrous isn't hardcore at all to me IMO. I could have hit my stock shortblock build with a 125 shot and ran 10s all day, and it wasn't anything special.

To me hardcore can be many different things. Sticking with your LT1 even if it takes years to finish/accomplish is one of them to me.
problem with that is a guy with a big checkbook whos a moron could get in there........hell if that was the rules for the ls1 section all it takes is a turbo and a stock ls1......you could be a friggin mororn and do it ive seen it too many times
very true.......the way it is now everybody and their uncle has gone after the cheap turbo hp.......it takes a big wallet and a small brain and you can make 700hp by mistake......its sad.......everybody asks me lately how come i didnt go turbo......my answer.......i know what im doing so i didn't need it to keep up with your half assed turbo builds....lol

This^^ Especially that last line. Just because the LT1 has been out of production for 15 years and there is little aftermarket development for it doesn't mean that noone comes up with anything new.
I'm still hopeful that a certain someone finishes their opti replacement that will work with the stock pcm.

Agreed....except the thinking that the heavy hitters can't learn more. Smart racers/engine builders are always looking for a new idea....even if it's from a newb. It can happen.....kinda like when a kid says something and their parent thinks "why did I never think of that?"
I'm not pointing fingers but I agree about the "**** people off" thing. Sometimes I'm apprehensive about asking questions in fear of the nasty answers and uncalled for comments. I like to have fun like the next guy but some take it too far. We all have a different level of knowledge and it's a shame that some just beat up on others because they don't know as much. I agree that a lot of people should learn how to use the search function but sometimes things change and it's nice to revisit them to see if something may have changed.

I dont know about you guys but when im out in my 97 Camaro and I see another LT1 Trans am or Camaro I get a good little ole "atta boy" feeling. I can honestly say ive never once thought "man that guy is so stupid cause hes not running as fast as I am nor have nearly the knowledge cause im so smart". To me its really very simple. If you see a thread post and you can help, go for it. If you dont want to, move on. But honestly you guys running 9's/low 10's NA on motors YOU build, how much more can you really learn? FWIW thanks to every last one of the LTx techs either this site or others that have saved me $$ and headache by helping out.....VERY much appreciated. Thank you.
