exhaust leak between header and y pipe
I am wondering if i can use some rtv sealant to stop an exhaust leak where the header and the y pipe come together? I'm not sure if it would get to hot in that area and the rtv would fail or not. I have some black rtv in my shop and it is rated up to 500*F.
bbk headers are worthless, its leaked there since they were new

its a ball and cup style connection, i didnt know they made gaskets for those? the dumb thing only has 2 bolts that connect it together and it needs 3. I think i might try the black rtv and see how it works.... is the stuff flammable?

Are the bolts fully threaded? I installed a set that had bolts that were smooth like 1.5" then threaded - the nuts ran out of thread before the ball and socket were tight. If yours are like that, just go buy some fully threaded bolts and tighten the dog **** out of them... with some high temp sealer in the socket part as well

they arent fully threaded, i tried taking the studs out with a big pipe wrench but i couldnt get them to budge, that and when i unbolted it, the nut stripped the bottom 1/4" of thread right off the stud... i'm not impressed with these headers, there crap...
