Default Crankcase Breather

Hey guys,

Picking up a SC'd Z28 this weekend and under boost conditions it's blowing oil out the tail pipes. I am buying it under the assumption the motor is dying, however, I also wonder, since it's not present at idles an non-boost cruising, if I may be able to get some sort of breather setup installed in case it's the crankcase getting boosted causing it.

On my older 3800 cars the oil fill was on the valve cover so it was super easy to install one and it worked well. Can I just do the same here with the LT1?

I also ended up using 2 valve covers that had the fill for two breathers; is that an option here?

Thanks for any insight!
Brian

It is actually - we worked out a price where I have zero risk if the motor is completely toast.

The guy that bought it is actually really nice and I feel terrible that the prior owner completely screwed him.

So crankcase breather - any other thoughts? Just want to go after the simple things in case it is a simple fix. I know it has mismatched everything and that it wasn't well thought out, and this is not likely to fix anything, but still, worth a shot.

The motor may not be toast but that eagle cast crank needs to come out before it makes it toast.

I don't plan on running it hard, at all, when I buy it, but still would like to know about the breather

If I could sell my car quickly for $4500 I'd buy it and rebuild it, needs an assload of work to make it right, but if you had time and knew what you were doing it has the potential to be a nice car. Just needs a new engine, fuel system, ignition, clutch, rear, etc.

I am debating putting it back to stock over the winter......I just want it to make it there, plus the motor isn't really going to have any resale value so if it blows, it blows.

So outside of tapping the intake is there another way?

Well if the motor blows and destroys the expensive heads, salvageable rods, pistons, block, cam and supercharger, then your really fucked.
