Canton Valve Covers
So I just bought some tall Canton valve covers for my lt1 because I wasn't having any luck with the stock ones after working on them a bit to clear my 1.6 rockers. I haven't got the new ones in the mail yet but I've read they have problems sealing with the blue Fel Pro rubber gaskets which is what I have. My build is on hold right now because I need to run the rest of my wiring harness but can't finish it without the valve covers on so I'm trying to get this stuff together quick.
Would these gaskets work well with the Cantons? http://m.summitracing.com/parts/mrg-5867
Or could I save some time and use silicone with the gaskets I have now? Just wondering how everyone else is sealing their own Cantons.

They look much taller. I'll measure them when I get them hopefully in a few days. And no way! I never live close to people on here lol Do you ever go to Beacon dragway? I race my Cobra up there sometimes

What exactly did you do to the stock ones? They can easily accommodate any 1.6 rocker as long as the valve cover supports have been modified correctly.
As far as the Cantons, many complaints about them leaking. Good luck.

I am too. I'm glad I didn't go the first race though. Everyone was pissed when that Copo blew its tranmission lol. But I'll have to join that page!

I assumed they could but I really just didn't want to mess with them. They were beaten and dented up from the previous owner and missing a lot of paint so I just used that as an excuse to get new ones. But I cut the braces in the covers closest to the intake. Didn't mess with the baffle on the passenger side because I wasn't sure how necessary it is

It's necessary if you have a breather hooked up into your TB. Thing is the stock baffle is a shitty design and will allow oil to be ingested into the motor. If you were not to have one then oil vapors have free reign again, if you have a breather tube going from the valve cover into the TB.

I used the rubber felpro gaskets with my cantons, the trick is to just silicone the gasket to the cover while off the car, let it cure, then install them together.
Ran them in a daily driver for ~2 years without a single leak.
