WANTED: Hypertech III 30027
It's been awhile since I've posted but I've got my dads 30th SS and I'm fixing everything he doesnt have time to.
I'm looking for a programmer to ensure the ECU is tuned for 93 octane and maybe get a little more performance.
Just thought I'd put a feeler out for one of these things.
Thanks,

Ew, gross. Don't waste your money, ESPECIALLY for the "power tuning." Many people have reported an actual LOSS with the tuning.
What you want is a mail-order tune. Try www.pcmforless.com, Ed Wright, etc.

Shbox, you're in LR? I live in Bryant.
I'd use PCMforless but have no way of installing the tune. Again, this is a bone stock SS 30th car and my main concern is ensuring it's tuned for 93-octane.

Hypertech "Power Tune" is worthless, and never in a million years would I pay anywhere near retail for one. They are neat to change shift points, raise the rev limit, adjust speedo, or remove top speed limiter in a pinch though.
Main problem are that they are WAY overpriced, and get locked to one VIN at a time. If you can snag one cheap/free they are a useful tool to have - just a little handheld that you can stick in the glovebox at the track to play with shift points and rev limits instead of having to bring out the laptop, power cord/inverter, and cables. The TA I picked up came with one, and although I still plan to get the cable to datalog and do real tunes like I do with my 93, it was kind of neat to play with.
I've never heard of one causing detonation in an LT1. The timing curves they use are so mild, and our engines are already extremely resistant to detonation I have a hard time seeing one cause any unless they got a bad batch of gas.

The car is running much smoother after a tank of V-Power, some Lucas Oil fuel system cleaner, and Mobil 1 EP. However, now it's making a weird noise at idle. Coming from the back of the engine/bellhousing area. Car is running fine it just makes this weird honking-whistle noise when I'm at idle for about 7seconds on then 7seconds off. Seems to be connected to the throttle position. Never heard this sound before nor have I ever heard someone mention this before.
