Its case by case, The Lt1 crowd shifted to more of a DIY type not a wholw lot still came in any more. I would talk to Mike@Icon Auto Sports, hes built some sick LT1s at his time when he was at MTI and knows his way around them real well. hey'll prolly turn out some fast ones now hes on his own. The other guy at Icon, Nick had a bad nasty stroker LT1 Vette that had a mean rep here in Houston, both those guys can build the hell out of an LT1. I would not hesitate letting Mike build me a car.

Call Jay at GFORCE performance. 281-993-5451.. He just build a 396 LT4 for a 1997 Z28 that was sweet. He just did a header install on a heads and cam supercharged 1996 SS. They are located in Pearland TX.

He know his ****.

IconAutoSports@aol.com

Mike has an awesome rep in Houston for his High quality work, any thing the guy does is solid, he did the install on my friends Y pipe for his V6, he took time to paint, smooth down and grind some spots he thought may ratle. He puts lot of detail in to his work, he'll do the little things you dont expect him to do. At MTI he built a Twin Turbo SS, the amount of detail he put in was sick. When dealing with Mike he goes above and beyond. I'm not connected with Icon but I know Mike and his work is beyond excellent. I would trust him with any thing, you just have to see his work the guy out does every body and any body. He puts the same level of work in to EVERY THING he does, no matter how little or big the prject. Hes just starting out on his own with Nick, but hes an honest guy and the few cars they have turned out in a short time span have been nothing but excellent.

We also work on LT1's.. I've got lots of AFR LTx heads in stock... So let me know if you have any questions. We could build a pretty crazy motor for you if you're up to it...

Later,
Chuck

SuperStud, not sure if you are looking for something only in Texas to build your motor, but I would make a call to Darren Harden (Harden Motorsports) in Indiana. The reason I say this is because like you, I am all about strong NA motors. Darren built the most powerful NA LT1 in existence, and has a whole slew of NA LT1 cars running stout NA numbers. He just built my new motor....should do 600rw NA.

His number is 812-988-6556

Would be worth a call

I agree with all of the above. I have heard nothing but good from Mike @ Ikon281 261-2249.I ill bring my blue camaro over to him in a week. Also MTI doesn't work on LT1's anymore. If they do anything for them, it is only bolt-ons with Waynes approval. Good luck with your engine build. Just my 2cents, 396 all the way.
