Default Traction Control Module Removal LT1

I have a 96 Z, and it has traction control. And I want to remove the traction control module above the drivers side valve cover. I figure I can just get a throttle cable out of a non traction control car and swap it? Do NOT want traction control. Thoughts eh?

No, cruise control is located under the ABS block on the frame rail.

If you delete the ASR motor as you want, with a non TCS cable, you will lose ABS if you do not trick the car into thinking the motor is still there. I am not 100% on what is needed for that, but if you just unplug, ABS and TCS will be disabled.

I want to get rid of the traction control, if the abs goes too i would be fine with that. Not sure on the cruise issue. I figured the non tcs cable would use a different cruise module.

Ok, then you will need a non TCS cruise control module and corresponding cable. I am not 100% if it will work though, on my car I removed the ASR motor and just lived without ABS/TCS/CC

Is there a specific reason for you wanting to remove it?

Its an annoyingly large motor that sits on top of your valve cover and makes for adjusting valves very painful.

I cant take pictures as I don't have the car anymore, but I can try and explain how the cable are routed.

The cables from the accelerator pedal, and cruse control go to the ASR module. Then a cable goes from the ASR to the throttle body. There is a different cruise control cable for with and without ASR. I don't know how you change the cruise control cable but I know it can be done.

IIRC you might also need a different throttle body if you want cruise after removing the ASR. I think the throttle body that was used with out ASR has a different piece for the cables to connect to.

Lots of under hood pics posted in this thread if you want to look. There is one on the last page.

Thanks Chris.
So from what it looks like. I can just get a throttle cable. And then adding cruise is a totally optional choice.

Yes, just get a throttle cable to go from the pedal to the throttle body.
Who is Chris?

I actually just got rid of my tcs/asr last night. I wanted to keep abs mainly just so I didn't have to see the lights on my dash. You need a throttle cable from a non tcs car and cruise cable from a non tcs car if you want to keep your cruise control. I ran out of time last night so I didn't run the new cables but I did get the abs to still function correctly and had no lights on the dash. If you want to keep your abs working and bypass the tcs you need to measure the resistance on the plug coming from your tcs. Mine was 6.4 ohms. I've read that other's have seen 2.7-3.6 ohms. After you find the resistance buy a resistor close to your range. I used a 6.8 ohm 10 watt resistor. Put it in the plug that connects to the tcs motor. This will mimic the tcs motor so you can retain your abs.

Alright! So do both traction control cars and non, both use the same cruise control module then??

From what I've read it should. I haven't ran my new cables yet so I'm not positive yet.
