Default SLP lid

hey guys I need help, I have been seeing lt1 cars with SLP lids in them. So I have been trying to find some research on this but no luck it all comes back to LS power plants. Has anyone else seen this?

I have it on my car. Just get a hood that clears the lid like the Ultra Z and it bolts right on.

I have one on mine, fits great with a LT1 WS6 ram air hood and LS1 base. Save for a smooth bellow coupler, no other mods were needed to fit.

I did the Vfn sunoco wide, that they modified to make it fit right (some bracing needs to be removed) with an LS1 base and SLP lid. Fits just fine and works way better than the race track intake the cars come with.

Whats the best way to get the IAT sensor in there somewhere? And best way to go from round to the oval throttle body?

there's a hole in the side of the lid for IAT, most people use a 4" rubber ferno coupler (get at Lowe's/Home Depot) to go from MAF to TB, which you just poke a hole in for the opti vent.

Edit: i have a lid if you're looking for one. I don't have the radiator cover that it slips into though.

Same here, no modification needed with a stock WS6 hood. I used an angled silicone coupler and just punched a small hole in it for the opti vent. GM still sells the grommet for the IAT sensor. The MAF fits perfect in the SLP lid itself, no need for a coupler there.

It's a legit question, I didn't use a Fernco. I'm not sure if they're a sponsor (apologies if their not), but it was siliconeintakes.com. It's a 45* 4" to 3.5" reducer. I had to trim a couple inches to get it to fit, since their straight reducer was too short.

Colder intake temps by a few degrees, not much. But it is more of a direct path to the engine.

My IAT's are almost always ambient when cruising unless I have been sitting in traffic for awhile, then they would obviously climb.

awesome. I've been wanting to switch to a lid setup forever just for the decluttering aspect as well as ease of filter maintenance. I never wanted to do the hacking into the metal part though to make it fit under LT1 stockish hoods.

sunoco wide? hmmm.. knew there was a taller one but not a wider one. got any pics of this to share? What did you have to trim to make it work? I've been looking at the sunoco hood for a while and its also on my list of things coming... just want to know how much bigger this wide one is from the 'normal'.

It's not actually wider, it's just taller. On the underside of the hood near the front, they remove some of the bracing and cover it so it's not just unfinished. If you call and talk to Jeanie ask her to do one like Butch and Chris. It's been a few years since they did mine. The only trimming that needs to be done is on the radiator cover/lower air box to fit the contour of the core support. The LS has a flat support where ours has a bit of a high spot. Everything else is bolt on.

I'm running one with stock LT1 hood. Trimmed hood bracing and did some massaging of lid itself.

With a VFN Sunoco hood, and trimming the bottom of the LS1 radiator support, I was able to make the lid setup work. I also had VFN do the extra trimming of the hood before sending it hood to me. Here are a few pics for reference.
