The brownish stuff in your coolant could be rust from the cooling passages in the block. While you are looking at things, check all of your seals. Putting nine quarts of oil in a car designed for five can make some seals blow out.

The smiles are back I spent the last 2 days tuning the MAF and VE tables keeping a close eye on that dipstick. The car drives like I never had it apart at all. Everything's perfect. Turned just over 100 miles today and changed the oil. Got 5 quarts out this time No coolant leaks anywhere I can see. Pressure, temps, AFR, all gauges are right on the money. I feel good about bringing closure to this thread. Thanks to everyone who helped. I'm the only one among my friends and family who's into cars so I couldn't have done this without you guys.

woo, congrats. I'm sure that's a welcome sign after the mini heart attack you gave yourself the other day.

Sounds like you have it under control, but a coolant system pressure tester will let you know if you have any leaks in the coolant system.
