LT1 has came a long way
Haven't posted here in ages it seems like. I finally got the car up and running. Actually threw some paint on the car so I wouldn't have 3 different colors on the car. I also got new wheels too.
It was a very time consuming and expensive process (for me, im poor). But I started chipping away at my ET goal. After 10 track passes and working through the bugs I finally hit my goal of 9.99 and faster! But even on that pass I still blew a charge pipe off. So I plan on fixing a few outstanding issues that I have this winter. Hopefully full wick it could be a decent little street car. Of course now I've turned into a crackhead and need more power! Even though most of the locals are still impressed that a little LT1 can make some power.
Hopefully I can make it to 9.1x next year. Some people say I could eclipse 8s based on logs and data, but I try to remain optimistic about it. Hope everyone winter builds go well and make great power!

Yes,
The fact that I wanted more of a racecar vs a streetcar, I wouldnt have done the 24x conversion. I would have went with Holley Dominator or MS3 Pro. I spent roughly $1700 on the 24x swap and still needed things like boost controller and bumpbox. My BC was $500 alone and I still dont have a BB yet. A new BB is at least $400.
I would have changed to a single plane intake even though the stock ported intake has been 7s. I would have also went with a larger cam and better converter. The current cam is a 226/226 565/565 114LSA and the converter was built by a local guy. I should have opted for a PTC/FTI/Pro Torque converter.
Other than all that, I wouldnt have changed a thing.

Nice build you got there. I saw them drooling over your wheels and paint on F-B.E.

pssshhh Road Course is life, damn straight liners.....But seriously man, car looks great. The money thing is and always will be a struggle. I tell my wife I "Need" certain parts and she tells me "No, you want...not NEED!" It confuses me because I "Need" them...don't marry and accountant...lol

It nice to hear the LT1's are still well and alive! I'm sorry to say I gave up on them a few years back, but it was fun and easy working on them. I was one of the first to run the Efi 24x conversion as well. Anyways, post some pics of the engine bay and show off the o'le LT1!
