First, you won't regret doing it. Best thing I did to mine. I went with valve cover mounted coils, but with your valve covers I think that might be an issue with not sealing correctly because of the how the bolts recess. Torqhead has a very nice valve cover bracket for the coils. My stock LT1 valve cover bolts don't recess like yours do, so the coil brackets sit flush on the valve cover. Just something to consider.

Sorry to side track but Have you been in touch with torqhead? I have been trying to get ahold of them for a couple weeks myself. With that being said I love my torquehead set up. I have my coils on the valve covers.

Paul at torqhead recommended running the LT1 bolts maybe using a washer to mount on valve covers. so we will see. I'll just have to get creative I guess.

A thin washer is a good idea. The install is very simple. I paid extra for the initial start up tune just so I could get it started. Mine fired right up, but was extremely rich. I didn't plan on driving it with that tune but wanted to at least have a starting point for my tuner.

Two key reasons- Getting rid of the optispark and being able to easily get software to tune the vehicle, or get it tuned preferably on the dyno.
There are no companies out there who offer a dependable opti for these cars. Once yours goes it will be a crap shoot to find a good one.

The Torqhead 24x kit is definitely worth the money. 0411 PCM is wired to plug right in to the factory harness for ease of installation and you can then use mainstream tuning software like HPTuners. The tuning capability and coil on plug changed the driving experience of my GenII powered LT1. I remember the first drive with it installed the car seemed to rev easier part throttle and WOT. People talk about how the short runner LT manifolds are restrictive for high RPM but my setup with a ported LT4 has no problem hitting the 7,300rpm rev limiter. I think some of the practices of the past were caused by limitations with the PCM. The knock sensor even works how it should with the 0411. On the factory PCM it was basically turned off because of picking up consistent false KR. The LS1 bodies seemed to always run full timing unless there was something seriously wrong with the car. Over the years with the factory PCM it seemed it wanted to throw a check engine light and pull timing frequently. Between O2 sensors going out, O2 high/low voltage codes, TPS sensor, coolant temp sensor the computer would always default to the low octane timing table. Now the car makes full power all day everyday. No more inconsistent performance.

This is my next purchase. I’ve changed my mind about going the whole LS route. More time and money than I really care to spend at this point in time. The opti I have is still rock solid after 10 years, but it’s only a matter of time…. Added bonus is I have a tuner with a dyno a short distance away. I had him tune my LT1 PCM, and in the process his 10+ year old laptop crashed and bricked my PCM.
PCM was reflashed on their dime and they were able to finish the tune, but after that they no longer do LT1 ****.

Who in the world would say that? They have no idea what they’re talking about. You want a short runner for high RPM. If they want restrictive, look at the olympic ski jump from a TPI L98 or an 80’s/90’s 302.

Over the years I have seen posts where people have went to a SBC high rise intake manifold with a wilson throttle body adapter because the LT manifold was apparently a restriction. Although some of that may have been people wanting to run a LS style mono blade vs a AS&M TB. It's been awhile. I have definitely read where LS bandwagoners have said that when in fact their plastic intakes are more restrictive than our intake lol.
