Default 95 auto vert T/A?? worth modding??

i have a 95 convertable automatic trans am and i was wondering if it is really worth the time and money building it or if i should go get an ls1 car. i am really not looking for anything super fast maybe some low 12's high 11's. what does everyone think????

that's what im sootin for, high 11's. i know a guy runnin 11.73 in a full weight 97 vert through an m6. he's got full boltons, afr 195 heads, and a jo cam, stock bottom end. you could get there quicker and less money for the upgrades with an ls1 but the initial cost of the ls1 is gonna run ya.

im running high twelves with just nitrous on my 97 bird, auto trans. very fun cars. plus im at 5800 feet....

we gotta 94 z with headers,stall,cold air,52mm tb,pulleys a nitrousworks 125 shot and wore out slicks that runs consistant 11.70s
no parts that touch oil and stock 323s

gears are next, then converter, radials, trac bar. Then whatever other stuff i can lighten up. maybe a nice heads and cam after that. lookin at buildin a 355, but thats a ways off right now

oh yeah, and my 12.99 was on a half empty bottle. it was in the garage for three weeks and we took it anyways. second pass it was already surging. damn i coulda gone fast. lol

Depending on your budget, either is a good choice. both have many pros/cons
1. opti vs. coil pack
2. more hp to start with (LS1)
3. LS1 respond better to mods
4. LS1 more costly to build
5. LT1 iron block (heavier)
6. LS1 has more programming alternatives
7. LT1 holds N2O better plus you can run ignition box for timing retard rev limiter, etc.

I would keep it IMHO
