How hot is your car??

Temperature wise that is. My car runs extremely hot. Just driving around town it gets around 210 and sometimes gets alot higher. It never overheats, but it just runs hot. It hasn't even been over 75 degrees yet. I don't want to see what it will be like when it gets hot outside. I'm going to be installing a 160 degree thermo when I get my car tuned and also I am going to flush my radiator sometime this week. Will this solve the problem?? I plan on putting on headers and I know once I do that its goign to get even hotter underthere. What do you guys think???

Well you don't need to get tuned to get a 160 thermostat. 210 is the normal operating temp, while sitting still it should get a little warmer. Flushing the radiator probly won't help anything except the coolant itself. Headers won't effect it at all, the "dummy gauge" it just the coolant temperature.

Well the reason I am getting it tuned is because of the nitrous. But, I am also going to have the tuner set my fans to kick on at a lower temp. Yeah it runs around 210 most of the time and when still it gets hotter.

my temp gauge gets hot to when im just sitting there also, with the 160 thermo, but it runs cooler when im driving it, having the fans kick on earlier should help ya out though

When I got my comp tune (fans kick on earlier and a bunch of other stuff), my car's temp NEVER went past halfway. Even when I drove hard. Never had it in the summer so I can't comment on that. But I was very pleased. Before the tune, the temp acted similar to yours.

once you get a tune or something like a hypertech the fans will turn on sooner I think on @ 165 off @ 172 or something like that.All LT1 cars are like that, if you turn your defrost or ac on it will kick the other fan on and cool down the car.

I run a 160* t-stat and have a manual fan switch and mine never passes 160*. Like others have said, mine used to run just as hot as yours...its a LT1 thing. Gotta love it.
