Default The SB2 LT1 is together....

Well here are some pics. The accessory bracket and stuff is just for mock-up. I've got a Jones Racing power steering pump and an MSD alternator on separate brackets for it.

They are in this album:

Here's some pics of the body work as well:

Thank you all

They are Lemons headers. 2" primary / 4" collector

I can't wait to see what it makes as well. I have a high degree of anxiety about that. I should know this Friday. At the crank numbers anyway.

They are SB2.2 Nextell Cup heads. 287cc intake runners, 2.15/1.60 valves. They flowed 379 intake / 260 exhaust.

That's incredible! Any idea what numbers you should be putting down to the ground?

I don't know. I'd like to make as much on the motor this year as I made on a 225 shot last year. That would take about 730-750 at the crank. I think it'll make at least 700 at the crank. Depends if I sized the cam correctly for the compression. The cam is a cam motion sr 270/279 @.050 .720/.680 113lsa. Compression is about 12.5-1. I might be a little small on the throttle body. I have a 1250cfm but I should have a 2000cfm. I wanted it to have throttle response.

Of course I forgot to mention the motor is built for a 400 hit and I have a straight discharge direct port NX system capable of that and then some. I thin I'll need a progressive controller though......

The flow numbers look excellent, but isn't 287cc too big? Either way looks awesome and good luck with your set up!

Who ported them for you? Cup teams do there own port job and those seem a smidge on the weak side for cup heads...

On the surface the 287cc ports do look way too big but the architecture of this head is different. The intake ports are substantially longer than traditional designs.

I agree that they are a little down from what they could be. The porting was done by a cup team. We flowed them on a 4" bore fixture so that didn't help the numbers. Plus these may have been busch or restrictor plate heads. I had the option to do some more port work but elected not to as the flow is well within my power range goal. Usually you will see 400-410 intake from a cup head.

I'll have some more work done to them next year when I build the big thumper turbo motor

Dave,

I got a quick question for you, why build the LT1? I love the LT1s just as much as the next guy on here but why did you do it? Its cool as hell to see some one whos dedicated enough to invest time and a lot of money in to these cars but what kept you holding on to an LT1 car? I'm looking at these pictures of your car and it seems very very very high quality, like a lot of dedication and atention to a lot of detail.

First off thanks to everyone for all the compliments. The main reasons were for cost believe it or not. We already had a killer one piece seal Callies crank and the block was in real good shape. To go to a little M would have required the purchase of a block and a new crank. That was $3000 I could spend elsewhere. I kinda like doing wierd stuff with oddball combos so this seemed right. Plus I get tired of other car guys knocking on the LT1. I like the reverse cooling concept and it works real well for a road race setup and has some detonation prevention advantages. It's not as week as one might think either.
