Default what are some alternatives to optispark?

What can I get to replace the optispark that would be more efficient with less maintaince and hassle? I don't want to start replacing mine, everytime it rains. . .

Links, prices, moddifications and descriptions would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

The stock opti is not a frection as bad as it's reputation, ignorance drives the market for alternatives but there are a couple that are good and worthwhile under some circumstances which will not be a stockish motor. The Delteq a LTCC get good review the Dynatech does not and much of it is just an opti anyway so if looking to get away from the opti it isn't what you want. Again though from your sig none of this is for you. I replaced the original opti on my Caprice at something over 90K and it turned out not to be the problem, car is now cammed and at 160K and still on that one I put in at 90some thousand. The car is all weather and I don't hesitate to even drive through 6-8 inches of water the few times I have encountered that much, it has also been showed in the dreaded Dexcool several times. The only measures I have taken to keep it dry are to put a little dielectric grease on the rubber seal at the connector on top.

The reason I'm looking for a change, is because I think I splashed a little water on it, and it went nuts. I'm going to be running the LE2 heads and cam in about a month.

well either w/ the Delteq or LTCC you're still going to need an operating opti to use them. The only true way to elminate the opti would be to run an LT1 to carb intake w/ a regular dist, or go to a FAST system and run a crank trigger.

Delteq, Dynaspark, LTCC.

Search the web, this forum, and CZ28. Should get some good results.

And unless you graft half an opti onto said distributor you need to keep and opti down front or ditch the factory computer.

you could buy my delteq off of me if I get rid of it.

In any case, water will still be a problem. I sugest if your going a cam install to convert to a vented opti set up.

I guess I will make my decision when I'm finished getting rid of my "knock".
