The track scale has been broken for quite a while. My lowest weigh in was 2785 for just the car. (I'm pushing 220#) I have added some weight to the car but its probably still close to 2800. Weight reduction is nice but gains seem to diminish in these cars as you approach 3000. I honestly didn't see much gain even going from the 1.5 rockers to the 1.7's so 1.6 to 1.7 is probably not worth the trouble. You could give it a try though. You never really know until you do it.

My current tranny/converter combo is not very good. Also my posi is going out so I might be done for a while.

Shon

Did you ever get any dyno numbers out of that thing? I read somewhere that you had it dyno tuned and track tuned. I know you dont' care about the dyno numbers but i was just wondering how much you had.

tekprodave put down 317hp / 341tq

myself(roadtrip120) 327hp/ 350tq

How much is your car running?

My car has never been on a dyno much less 'tuned'. I have some tweaks in the tune and need to log some data and lean it out more but as for being tuned, not yet. I might be able to do that early 2006 but we'll see.

I think someone(conrad=fastblackTA) posted on SCFYB that it had not been dyno or track tuned yet.

Once we do strap it down and get some numbers I will let everyone know.

Tuning may make a huge difference. Mine was well under 300 before it was tuned. Be prepared to spend some $ though. Dyno tuning ain't cheap. My actual numbers are probably a bit higher now. It was tuned without the recently installed cutout.

Man, this is great ! Two LT1 bolt-on cars in the 11's ;although, both of you guys are super light in the weight department compared to me (3500 lbs.) give or take a little bit. I can't believe you guys are pushing 114 !!!! I still want to see how fast I can get mine to go at 3500 lbs ( car weight). I would be happy if I could do some 12.20's @ 110/111

Congrats again

Actually 3. SAR2k was the first. 11.94 with 3500# in -1700DA. I think mid 11's are very possible with crazy weight reduction and REALLY good weather. It just matters how far you want to take it. I'm not sure what I'm going to do. My car is somewhat wounded right now. :/

Yea, I knew SARK2 was the first one in the 11's. I was trying to say two more LT1's in the 11's.... I'm not willing to rip everything out of the car to save weight. I want to do the best ET possible at factory weight with everything working in the car. That's why I lowered my expectations for ET to 12.20's at 110/111.

the SI LS1s have nearly a second+ on my times, a local SC fella (Silent But Violent) is 7 tenths or more from me.

I do not see the LT1 getting quicker than 11.70. But that is going to take butt load of work and a perfect run. That is 2 tenths...at this point that is ALOT...

It's hard to say exactly but I think 11.6X or even 11.5X or better is possible. Like I said, it just matters how far you want to go. I know I'm losing at least 2 tenths from my current tranny/TC combo. I could also lose a couple hundred pounds. I've only done free weght reduction with the exception of my Harwood hood and wheels. I haven't cut metal yet either but I'm so tempted to cut the cowl since its always in the way.

Just let me know when you want me to help you get back that 2 tenths

It would be really cool to see an LT1 hit the 11.6/5 mark.

I can see another 100#s out of my car and not going to wild, then if I wanted to go wild, that might could become 300+....but who knows...

The tranny itself is whats really killing me. Have you ever thought of a Kilgore TH400? It's pricey but light. With a t-brake and a high stall you could get some nice 60-ft times.

Other mods I could do is chromoly up front (k-member & A-arms), lexan, fiberglass rear hatch, drag brakes, fuel cell, cutting metal, etc. Some stuff costs a grip though.

Cost is what is so rough now, the stuff up to now is manageable, but here on out is major bank....

Not sure what trans I will end up with, Going to replace this stock clutch once and then probably go TH350 but part breakage will determine when that comes about....Let's say I hope it dont happen.....

Tell me about it. I've spent thousands recently just to go a couple tenths faster.

OK Shon, check this out:

I also have a pair of 11.89 timeslips. The best is 11.891@114.269!! I would have ran faster but they had problems with the tree and sent everyone home 3 hours early. I'm sure I would have had an 11.7x run if not for the track problem since it was 20 to 30 degrees cooler. I usually pick up 2-3 tenths when that happens. I was so dissappointed that I didn't get to run. They gave us a rain check for next week which is the last time before they close the track but I'm sure the weather won't be as good. It'll probably be raining. :/
