Dam, either way, you got the quickest/fastest car now. I hope you can make a few more passes next week. Congrats!! And that MPH is very cool!!!

I do have some work to do over the winter

You know you could take a couple years off.

I'm just kidding of course. I'm more convinced than ever that these cars can go deep in the 11's with just boltons and weight reduction. My tranny/TC combo is far from ideal and my posi is all but gone. I was doing "peg leg" burnouts and it's real obvious since the car has rubber pieces only on one side. The DA was close to zero on my best run. It went way into the negative but I couldn't make a run then.

THanks for anyone who takes the time to explain it in fair detail... sorry for high-jackin ur thread... lol. FIgured it is kinda on topic.. lol

this aint the best explination

https://ls1tech.com/forums/showthrea...81#post2682281

because it doesn't even mention things like stall converter and things of the like. So im not sure what is all considered bolt on...

You can basically mod the car and tranny all you want but only rocker arms are allowed as a motor mod. Also you must run n/a and no nitrous.

CONGRATS Dave!!! I know you're worked very hard for this. That trap speed is insane!!!
Looks like I'll be shopping for a stock motor to drop back into my 96 TA now...

Now this scares me. If Steve had his car down to my ~3000# raceweight he probably would have run 11.5!!!

I do have this stock motor laying next to my car.....

Fastest pass in Shon's car, got 'em by .006!

60' 1.624 (spun badly due to moron with street tires dragging water up to line)
330' 4.859
1/8th 7.577
MPH 90.27
1000' 9.917
1/4 11.897
MPH 113.60

Yeah that's too close. I really wanted to beat him by at least a tenth. It would have been awesome if we were running side by side all the way down the strip.

Steve is talking about buying a stock longblock not building one. That would be cheating unless maybe you could build it without taking the heads off.

It never dawned on me before, but you and Shon live in SC? What track do you run at? I live in NE Georgia about 40 minutes from Atlanta Dragway. Maybe I can swing up your direction next season

We are in the upstate of SC. We run at Carolina Dragway in Jackson, SC and the record setting passes were at Silver Dollar in Reynolds GA. CD is 3 hours and SD is 4 hours.

FYI- put some time in the car today, it is hitting one of the above tracks tomorrow.

Wow! I did not know you made those runs at Reynolds! That is by far the BEST track in Georgia. I have been there before but have yet to run any of my cars. My best friend Tommy (Docspeed) lives just 5 minutes from Atlanta Dragway here in Commerce so I always go there. The DA sux here compared to SDR. It usually amounts to 3-4 tenths in the 1/4. I wanted to run my Vette down there before I sold it to see if I could get some 12.6Xs out of it.

Commerce sux, unless you go on their Saturday program.
I never have liked SDR but we always went on GAFBA track days and later found out that the track crew was told not to prep the track so people would not break stuff. after I heard that I never went back, that is BS, I go race to make new ETs, no way to do that with no track prep.
Then I "found" Carolina and that track is AWESOME!!! Russ likes SDR on their TNT nights b/c they prep it so if they are prepping it I dont have a problem with that track...plus the MPH seems to be a little bit better down there.

We'll know more tomorrow....

Even on Saturdays, the track prep is **** poor at Commerce. I have stacks of timeslips with Shitty 60's to prove that. I may need to check out that track in Jackson next season

You should, traction is not an issue. breaking driveline parts is your next problem there....

Feb 18th is SVT day, my car will be there but I can not make it, the SVT club rents the track from 10-4 and you can hot lap it all day, about 50-100 cars is all that run, it is alot of fun!!!

Good luck Shon. It looks like I'm done. It's been raining all day.

BTW I know what you mean about track prep or lack thereof. VHT was invented out here. You'd think they would use it!!

Well, the air must have been crappy. first 3 runs off the trailer it would only run 11.91 but did pull new 60's and some WILD MPH. 1.57 and 1.56 it pulled and one slip shows 115+, but it did not back that up.

I think the stock clutch has just about had enough. We did put a 'glass hood on it and lose 10#s and put some ET Drags and lost 8#s total over my tubed ET Streets. And those Drags 26x10 vs streets of 26x11.5 were .5" shorter than the Streets so we gained 'gear' and RPM on the top side.

Be out of town till TH so talk to you all later.
