Went to the track today and broke my tailshaft
Today was the first day I had my auto to the track and it was also the last day for racing at Beech Bend. I made three passes before I broke my tailshaft. I hooked up nice the last time and I guess was why my **** broke. However, I had no stall speed and that was diverting my attention from taking off and my reaction time was like 1/2 a second. The only thing I can figure out is that my brakes still need some tweaking cuz I installed a line lock and deleted my ABS. Brakes are a little spongy and I had some pedal travel and is the only reason I can figure out why maybe I kept rolling through the lights. Surely the stall I got was the one I paid for. I won't jump the gun on the stall yet. I'll fix my tailshaft before I jump to conclusions. I will be however investing in a BMR torque arm relocation kit. I don't think I broke anything other than it. I lost my fluid but I shut it down after I made it to the taxi way. Anyway, here's my naturally aspirated times with no stall speed (I was launching at like 1600 rpm--I imagine that was 1/2 a second right there) and busted tailshaft.
60': 1.66
1/8: 7.855 @ 85.55
1/4: 12.394 @ 108.96
If I can get the brakes worked out, TA relocation, and new tailshaft, I might try to get to the closing day of the closer 1/8 mile track this Saturday.

Hey man, I saw you run, but didn't know your car broke. Very nice looking ride. You were running in the slick lane, right? After you get your breaks to hold you on the line, it'll be mean.

Thanks. I've got a paint job in order but that's last in line. I have no idea which lane I was running in, lol. It was my first time to Beech Bend and I was just hot lapping it cuz I could. My brakes wouldn't hold it. Like I said, not sure if it's stall or the brakes. Line lock seemed to work ok, but then again, first time I had used a line lock. Oh well, test and tune. All I can do is tweak and try again. I'm hoping for about 11.5 N/A and then ~10.7 on a 250 shot.

I was running in C/SM (C Super Modified) then with a '69 Camaro. That place used to hook really well. That track, and the one here at Tulsa, are the only two I remember having covered grand stands. Last time I was there, for an EFI race, it looked just like I remembered. Nothing appeared to have changed. Even the paint. <G> The sheet metal covers are gone here now, wind took them out.
Do you know Ben Bryant? He runs there. He has a '94 (maroon Formula or TA, if I remember correctly) 355" automatic car.

Take care, Ed

I found that hood in an Ebay auction. I really like the way it looks too. It's like the 98+ style for the 93-97's. Only problem is that the hood shocks pulled the fiberglass apart on one side so I removed them. I use a steel conduit (pipe) for a hood prop. It's kinda ghetto but it works! Anyway, I got in those two lanes cuz I was like "Why doesn't more people run over here?" I was wanting to check things out with my new setup. I probably looked like a moron but I could not get any stall. Don't know much about autos yet, but if you have no brakes, then you're not gonna get any right? I am gonna turn up the pressure on the back brakes and then rebleed the fronts and try it out. I'd turned up the back brakes after another lap or two but we see how that ended! I'd been glad to talk to you too but being on a board here, I obviously never knew you were there! I probably saw you run but there were several red Z's there yesterday if I remember so it's all kinda blurry.

Yeah I guess it's got potential but I have no money, lol. I posted some pics of the tailshaft in a new thread. I may go back out in the garage and take it off here in a few. My birthday is in about 3 weeks so I am about to talk my mom into buying the relocation kit. I used to have a 6 speed but I burned it up the last of July and is why I went with the auto.

I'm about 1 1/2 hrs east BG. I live between Monticello and Albany. I'll be going to Monticello in the morning and will be getting a tailshaft from the transmission guy and will probably get one without the TQ arm mount since I will be using BMR's relocation kit. After I get all that, I will bleed the brakes and turn up the pressure on the rears and try my stall again and see if tranny still shifts. I should have all that in a couple three hours. I'm not too far in over my head. BTW, tell your uncle thanks for the circuit tester. He was gone when I took it back. I found my problem (hot wire to the bottle heater), unfortunately I didn't need nitrous yesterday, lol.
