Well, most would agree that the splayed 4 bolt block would be the strongest, especially if you use billet splayed main caps. That said, why not just pick up a good condition run of the mill 2-bolt LT1 block and have it machined to splayed 4 bolt mains? I had to drive 4 hours to get my 4-bolt vette block when I built my first LT1 and ended up just using a 2-bolt block and converting it to splayed 4 bolt mains on my most recent build.

and how much did you spend on machine work to make it a 4 bolt and hot tank and boring and line boring?? i spent 1000 on my pre 93 block. never did use it..just sold it for 500. i figure it will be cheaper if i use a stock 4 bolt

Call up SPDC they are one of the sponsors on here. They sell a short block, so maybe they have a block laying around.

second that..
plus IMO a 2 bolt LT1 will be easier to find than a LT4, and probably cheaper too.

The LT1 and LT4 blocks are the same. However, only the Corvette LTx blocks were 4 bolt mains.

All LT-4's were 4 bolt mains, whether in the super rare Firehawks or SS's with them or in the Vette. Now the LT-1 was different, in the vette's its a 4 bolt, in the f-bods its a 2 bolt.
