Supercharging your LT1 is going to be the most expensive project you've probably ever gotten into with a car... Especially if you dont have much experience with supercharging.
Some of the first things I learned:
-FMU's are garbage, big injectors are the only way to go
-Lots of parts will break with the addition of the supercharger
-If you run an automatic, swap it to a M6 or TH350 when it dies. The 4l60e is garbage.
-The stock 10-bolt rear is garbage, replace ASAP with 12-bolt or 9"
-Dont be afraid of getting your hands dirty, you'll be working on the car constantly
-Last but not least, You stock motor will eventually die! Just not as high in mileage as you would expect. Some literally only get around the block before piston ring failure, some last thousands of miles before the inevitable... Mine lasted a little over 30K mi with two different blowers. As soon as you purchased the Vortech, you should have started saving for a new motor, but now is still better than never.

It depends on what your goals are with the car. I ran a Powerdyne 4.5 supercharger for 5 years with no problems at all. But the car was my daily driver so I did not race it or abuse it. A supercharger will put you at the ragged edge of what most of the stock components can handle. If you run it hard then you'll probably break the trans, rear and eventually the motor. So decide what you really want out of the car then plan on upgrading the parts that will break. I never broke anything and put 42K miles on my 93 with the supercharger before removing it and selling the car.

My first blower motor lasted 500 miles broke 3 rods and one shot out the block 15psi , I broke the rear end 2 Transmissions 4L60E and a T56, going to TH400. FMU sucks 42lb injectors at least, 255lph fuel pump, MSD 3Bar Map sensor, good fuel, Tune, and a Methonal Kit.

Doing fine so far - almost a full season of racing - 2 different tracks twice a week.

The install wasn't bad, make sure that you have everything before you start it - everything. Once installed I started to have a bunch of small gremlins to work out but once done the car ran/runs great.

Replacing the 10bolt this Winter, QA1's up front and rebuilding the 4l60e. About the trans, i've searched and there's a few people out there that are in the 9's with a 4l60e from Rock On (I think) so, I would think you'd be fine for a low 11/high 10 car as long as you're confident in your tranny builder. The guy I know builds and races circle track cars - but he's a transmission specialist, i'm very confident in his abilities and years of experience as a builder.

Can an LT1's PCM read a 3bar map? Or should I say, can it be made to read a 2-3bar MAP?

All you have to do is plug it in.

Manifold Absolute Pressure Sensor
The pressure inside the intake manifold is an extremely important input to the ECU. This Sensor will respond to changes in manifold pressures and relay the information to the ECU in the form of a voltage signal ranging from about 1 volt to 5 volts. Several different versions are available for normal aspirated and engines with blowers.

MAP Sensor, 1-Bar,
normally aspirated applications
PN 2311

MAP Sensor, 2-Bar,
for blown or turbo applications up to 20 lbs of boost
PN 2312
Compact Model, PN 23121

MAP Sensor, 3-Bar,
for blown or turbo applications up to 30 lbs of boost
PN 2313
Compact Model, PN 23131

You dont have to retune if your just swapping it. Those are MSD part numbers.

I'm just wondering why in the world would you jump from a 4L60E to a T-56 then back to a TH350 or Th400? To me going from a automatic to a manual then back to an automatic is just stupid. Thats just my opinion, i mean thats alot of work putting everything that goes with the manual tranny then taking it right back out to put a automatic right back in. Why not just install a TH-350 or 400 when the 4L60E breaks?

The car came with a 4L60E it broke and I had a T-56 from a 1997 T/A that I parted out. The T-56 is broke now (I will rebuild it and put it in my Camaro), a buddy of mine had a TH400 laying around with a 4,000 stall so I took it. I dont like my cars being down.
