Default How fast are WRX STI's? Cause I raped one yesterday!

One of my buds has a WRX STI and braggs about how its no competition for him to beat anyone blah ba blah....I guess he hasnet had a taste of american muscle yet.....well since my tires are so god damn crappy I told him I'd go from a roll. We were in 2nd gear and went on 3, I jumped it a lil bit but I was jsut anticipating my car down shifting to 1st though anyways.....regaurdless, I pulled on him like a raped date! He says his car is 4wd and has 300hp, lt1's are supposed to have 300 to right? his has upgraded exhaust and some minor stuff to....but I Was thinking if I ate him this ba, how bad would it be with the bottle open

anyone know stats on 1/4 times or anything on these?

'06 WRX STI

curb weight: 3315 lbs.
power: 300 hp @ 6000 rpm
torque: 300 lb-ft @ 400 rpm
weight to power: 11.1 lb/hp
0-30: 1.3 sec
0-40: 2.2
0-50: 3.1
0-60: 4.5
0-70: 5.7
0-80: 7.6
0-90: 9.5
0-100: 12.1
passing 45-65 mph: 2.5 sec
quarter mile = 13.0 @ 103.5 mph according to Motor Trend

I raped a '06 STI the first night I had my car out with all the bolt-ons I had on my other formula. They may be quick, but in my opinion, they aren't all that everyone makes them out to be, but dont get me wrong, they have massive potential.

this is very true. the numbers are: manual 13-14% power loss, 15-16% for an auto, and up to 25% for an awd.

anyone can correct me on this if i'm wrong, but i dont think i am.

A friend of mine has an 04 STI, It's a low 12 sec car now, I've driven it.

Stock for stock I would put $ on the STI over an LT1 any day of the week in the 1/4.

From a roll it will be a lot closer, mostly a drivers race. Those STI's are low 13 sec cars out of the box.

(If it matters he had an LT1 z28 before this car.)

with my ls1, before my headers, I ran one and I barely held my own it was a drivers race for sure, at that time I was running low 13's on a street tire at 104mph(horrible 60 foots). So with the stats for the sti above. Its notice able that they get up and go, if it was from a stop instead of a 30 mph roll the sti would got the jump on me, and I wouldnt be able to catch him at least in a 1/4 mile.

they put like 230-240 to the wheels in most cases and weigh 100-200 lbs less than an f-body.

I've seen ones at the track with good drivers running low-mid 13s @ like 102

you should get him on a roll with a bolt-on LT1. As stated, the motors make great power but the drivetrain saps a lot of it. They're sweet cars.

my friend had a 97 70,000 mile m6 full bolt on ss with BFG drag radials and raped an 03 sti with a few bolt on's. the ss crushed this sti the whole way down the track. he ran a 12.8 so i guess this sti was 13.20's

When I was going to school at UTI a guy in my class had an 02' WRX and I would smoke the **** out of him. Then he traded it in for a new WRX STi and beat me on a drag race during lunch, but the two races from a roll I beat him by about one car. All my car had was a FIPK and cat-back and ORY. Then we had a UTI drag day at California speedway and I raced him, he ran a 14.7 and I ran a 14.0. The funny thing is, after that all the dudes in my class called him " Stoich" until we graduated. They are fast cars though, Id take one over a Honda any day.

most of the ppl who own the STI's are just ricers who can't drive (no offense but i have pulled every1 ive raced out of the hole on street tires... which means they suck at driving.).... If you find some1 in one who actually knows what they are doing and you go from a dig it can be deadly if your close to stock.

sti's are just damn quick cars if known how to drive them correctly. im gonna say theres a science to launching PERFECTLY with an sti off the line. so many variables with the turbo kicking in, awd, gearing, etc. thats the biggest advantage they have over us, is the launch. i go down to the philly races all the time and watch sti's get raped by srt4's and auto lt1's because they just cant launch properly. however, ive also seen an sti outlaunch an 03 cobra!

theres an 06 sti around my area that some 18 year old kid just bought ... im gonna see if i can take him on a roll sometime.

I didn't know that having an AWD car has to be launched extremely well for you to get traction, and good times.

The answer is "they are not" (fast)

Kinda sick of punks who think these cars are the shiznit.

A few months ago one tried to race me from about a 30 roll. He hit it first and I still totally raped him. Granted, I was in my '94 which has an 385 LT4 stroker motor, but it was still funny to just totally blow his doors off.

Same here. And most of them just get simple mods like boost controllers and little things and think they gained 100HP or some ****.
