2.73's vs 3.23's Same Carrier??
Does a factory 2.73 car have the same carrier as a 3.23 car? Or does the guy with 2.73s get screwed trying to go with deep gears? And whats the fastest easiets way to find out what gears you have? VIN? Door Tag? Axle Tag? Where do I find out?

The 2.73 Carrier is a Series 2. The 3.23 and up Carrier is a Series 3. Your Gear Ratio code is in the Glove Box on that printed panel. 2.73 will read GU2, and 3.23 will read GU5.

Just went and looked. One of the many sets of numbers on there was GU2 so I guess im a 2.73 car. Makes me happy in a way cause I know I can get much much more jump with some gears. BUT can I slip 4.10s or 3.73's in a Series 2?

Well I was on the fence as far as 3.73s or 4.10s. Maybe this will make my choice for me. I dont see the 4.10s being worth the extra hassle. Not when so many people are tellin me stop at 3.73's anyhow.

Oh you can get even 4.10s for the series 2?? I am suprised. I thought for sure that it would stop at 3.73s Carriers dont seem to have that big of a range usually. You spoke of gear thickness. Is a strenght issue at hand at all? Or not a concern?

2.73 is the only standard gear set that will fit the series 2, if you get the special thicker gears you can upgrade to whatever you want (or you can swap to a 3 series and get whatever standard set)
