Default Replacing wheel stud....Having a hard time putting new one in!

I have the new wheel stud in after replacing a stripped one....The hard part is pounding the new wheel stud into place! It won't go in, and the lug nut is on the stud, but it won't turn without turning the bolt, and I don't know what to use to hold the bolt in place so I can turn the lug nut and tighten it down. I need to pull the new bolt in place...Any suggestions?

I think they have to be pressed in.

I see people on here all the time just hitting them with hammers to get in, and all they do is put a lug nut on it and tighten it to pull the new one in. But on the stud, the lug nut stops at a certain point, and I have to hold it to tighten it.

take 2 washers to fit the stud, take an old lug nut and a pry bar... place the prybar on the back of the stud and apply pressure the put the two washers on and the lug nut and run it up slowly with an air gun... i do them all the time... thats the press method... i learned that trick when i use to be a mechanic from a GM master tech... good to know the tools of the trade are being used right....LOL...
