Default Speedomotive 383

Hey guys Im thinking of sending My block out to speedomotive for the 383 combo with all forged internals. Does anyone have one or know of someone who has dealt with them? From what I hear they really know thier stuff over there. A while back in Car Craft or Hot Rod magazine they had an engine in the Top 10 big block shootout. What type of gains do You think I'll see with a LE1 head and cam package? Just curious.

I have the Speed-O-Motive All-Forged 383 kit, with 6" H-beam rods, forged JE Blower Pistons, 4340 crank. Everything went together very nicely, except for one thing:

I paid for Moly rings and they sent me cast iron ones. I called, send them back and they reimbursed my shipping. Irritating but I was happy afterwards.

I also had them balance the assembly, and it is very smooth.

I don't know what an LE1 head is - some Lingenfelter thing? I'm running Edelbrock E-Tec 200 heads I ported myself. The setup is pushing 740HP at the crank - haven't dynoed in chassis yet - running 72# injectors, boost and no nitrous.

With that kind of displacement I would at the very least look at LE2 but I myself would go for LE3.

seems like a reputable place, just make sure you spend wisely on the top half.

Like it was said at least an LE2

Thanks fo rthe replies, So with the LE2 top end will I still have a very streetable car? Also, The reason I was thinking LE1 was because Im in So. Cal. and as You all know the Smog requirements are very strict. Do You think with a good tune I can still pass Smog?

I consider them to be a low-budget supplier. I was looking for just that a while back so I bought a cast 383 crank, stock blueprinted rods, SRP pistons, rings, etc. (complete rotating assembly). . . from them. When they came in, I found that 2 of the rods were bent and the flexplate was the wrong size. I had to buy replacements locally because I didn't have time to wait. They actually gave me full re-imbursement for the locally bought parts, which were more expensive than theirs. I was aggravated, but they made it right.

The car wound up running 11.0 at 123 on motor. I put a 125 shot on it and it was pretty stupid, but ran out of gear so never went to the track.
