whats needed to take stock lt1 to 400 hp
I have a stock 97 camaro with an lt1 and 6 speed, no mods it is bone stock, has 140,000 miles on it, now i know i should change the exhaust and with that said what combination of mods and rebuild can i achieve 400+hp for the the best price, I would rather build it right the first time, im not a cheap skate but i dont have deep pockets either

guy in town dyno'd at 420ish. He has built multiple 400hp+ LT1s.
His recipe:
He ported his heads and had them port matched to the intake. He SWEARS this is a key performance mod on the LT1. If you look at the intake ports to head ports design it is easy to see that they do not match at all....causes a lot of flow issues.....according to him.
Installed a decent cam (sorry, unsure which one...but not crazy...his car still idles pretty nice)
Roller rockers
Full length headers.
Not too shabby.....makes as much power as I do with a supercharger but without all the supercharger head aches....

Heads/Cam and supporting mods
(cold air intake, headers, catback, 1.6 rockers and 30# injectors)
and a good tune should easily put you in that range.
Port matching the intake manifold to the heads is a great idea and doesn't
cost much extra.
Alternate shortcut = Nitrous
You don't need a stroker to get there,
but there's nothing stopping you from going that route.

There is a guy who just got done putting a LE2 kit on his 96 WS6 bird on camaroz28.com and he put down exactly 400 to the wheels with all the supporting mods. I know that I will most likely go with Lloyd because I have heard nothing but good things about him.
