Anybody running over 400 HP with a 10 bolt
Hello
I am looking for some suggestions to get my 10 bolt to the end of the season. I have already broke it twice since the new motor and have to wait till the winter months to put in a 9 inch. I have seen the aluminum covers that have locking bolts againts the bearing caps are these any help? I have also heard of some people bracing these rear ends. If anybody has any good info please post your information or pics.
Please don't post that you would not stick any more money into the existing 10 bolt I already know that and please don't suggest other manufactures that have bolt ins. I need to get this back together as soon as possible. I have access to the tools needed to reinforce the stocker and already have the new gears (4.56) and the warrantied Auburn Posi Pro.
Thanks

normally it is wheel hop that tears the 10 bolts apart ... but in your case being a 6 speed is a lot harder on the rear end then a automatic. a girdle will help out a lot, as well as lca's to help suck up any wheel hop. take it easy on the 10 bolt :p no more 5,000 launches haha!

I was making 480rw NA on a solid roller 396 and I never broke mine. It did have the TA cover though which made me a believer in them. Ran 11.4@126 mph on it.....just go a little easy off the line. That was on hot drag radials too. Never broke, beat on it everyday (powershifting, speed shifting, etc..).

He was also doing so on the thickest gear set you can run. Change to more teeth of a higher ratio gear and all of that will change.

It's all about tooth contact and load forces. Lower numerical gears have more contact on the teeth which lead to less stress. There is also teh argument that 2.73's will wind out a lot slower then a higher ratio and cause less stress which I guess is true to a point. Also teh fact that it's a 2 serise carrier and not a 3 comes into play as well.

I run a 10 bolt with a girdle. My highest launch is 4,000 and i try to slip the clutch a bit. I want to learn to pre load the suspension with my line lock, that should help a bit. I have 373's and an eaton hd carrier. my best 60 is only 1.83. that is killing me. Now I have spray and am a bit scared to launch on it.

My friends dad has drag raced for about 30 years now and is also a mechanic...when i asekd him about my 10 bolt he said i can typically go low 11s and high 10s with a good lucky 10 bolt....But then again he didnt say it would BREAK...he just said you need to really watch it then
