Default Just got a 97 T/A and want to mod it

I just got a red 97 Trans Am about 2 months ago. It looks brand new and has 77k miles. I have around $4-5k left over i can spend on it. I don't know much about cars but I was wanting to mod it alot and make it have alot more HP. First I was wanting to get a new exhaust system for it since the stock sounds like crap. I was leaning towards borla or gmmg. I want the car to be loud and fast so any suggestions on what parts and things i need to get with 4-5k would be awesome.

If it's not illegal, it's not good enough.

I would do a CAI, full exhaust using Pacesetter long tubes and ORY(ceramic coated), gears, stall if your auto, Dr's, email tuning and then I would get nitrous and or cam and possibly heads. Just my opinion!

Congrats on the new car, post some pics if you can. If i were you i would order kooks headers, ory pipe, and a borla catback. That should be plenty loud enough for you and give you some good power gains, while having one of the best sounding exhaust systems. 4-5k is alot to play with so dont waste it, set a realistic power level and go from there.

Hmm a lloyd elliot heads/cam package, full exhaust and a 12 bolt, think that covers about what you have left.

I'd do the LE2 H/C package, a 12 bolt, and a custom true dual exhaust with long tubes.

Where do you live? If you don't really have any mechanical experience, I'd call you local friendly F-Body performance shop and tell them you want to go fast.

long tube headers (kooks or ORY), get rid of the cat = test pipe, your pick of muffler, CAI. thoes will give you a mean sound. after that: up the stall, H/C package and some nice wide rims and sticky tires. underdrive pullys are nice and so are short shifters. oh and upgrade your *** ie. hotchkiss!! thats what i'd do.

Stall, intake, Pacesetter LT's and ORY, GMMG (sounds BADASS), lower it and put some good rims and tires. See what you have left over and maybe do a cam and nitrous. Have fun~Cole~

yes cunk the factory 10 bolt in the trash strange axle co. has a new 60 series out looks great. trq arm headers exhaust and have it tuned and if you can cunk the factory opti if you can get the msd system it will hold up better now that the car will be running hard p.s. wires and plugs too

Dont go with the borla, go with a nice tucked TD system with lt headers. After that, CAI, H/C/Valvetrain/stall/Tires.

Your stock rear should be good for a long time with a auto.

Yeah dont worry about the rear. If youre not poor, go straight for the H/C route first. I dont like to waste my time with the small stuff first. Do it big and enjoy the car.
