ummm... LT4 will flow more going past max RPM depends on the cam the LT4's will make more power. **** im thinking about some LT4 AFR's I know i'll make more power. It's like saying an LS1 head is better than an LS6 head I think not...

Do realize the knowledge level of some of the folks you are disagreeing with???
Ed is THE LT1 guru and as he said they can make a great dyno queen but will not be best on the track.
You put AFR LT4 ported on a 355 and keep the stock management system and you will have an underperformer, Let us know when you are done so I can be the first to point and laugh when you start asking why it isn't working well.

At what point in displacement would it be better to jump to a higher flowing head like the AFR LT4s?
Because I was thinking about going to a 396 or 383 setup after my LT1 gives up the ghost.

Sometimes you try to share with people what you found when trying something, but they think your full of crap and just have to find out for themselves. Remember, we don't race dynos or flow benches.
Good luck with your LT4 AFRs.
When you get them on, we have a local guy with an LT1 head 355" you might want to try on for size.

AFR has some good stuff for Gen 1s but they did not keep pace with the BIG step forward GM took with the LT1 heads, but their reputation carries on despite that. AFR offers NOTHING I would even remotely recommend someone consider for an LT1.
Start doing some research and you will find those going fast with AFRs have so much into the rest of the car(sheetmetal intakes and all) they couldn't help but go fast and among them you will find cars with a whole lot less in them running ported LT1 heads and intake. The guys with the high dollar stuff try to pretend the low buck guy has a strictly racer but reality is he is the one that did his homework and didn't ASSume AFRs were that good.
If you really want to go wild the TrickFlow LT1 heads are genuinely working well for some guys.

LT-4 Not make power? what kind of **** is this?
The potential of your heads depends on the potential of your cam and vice versa. You have to find the right combination. Ther'e no such thing as too big of a head, but there is such a thing as too little of a cam. Ask Joe O.

Actually you want to get right down too it and even on a 383 I think it is open to debate LT1 or LT4, compare Ed's numbers to Rick Abare's AI prepped LT1 headed monster that Ed does a lot of the tuning for. Makes an objective person scratch their head a little and maybe question the usual ignorance passed around the internet.

I'm sorry, I don't race with other peoples cars, I race with my own.
You have to use the right cam with the right heads to get the most potential out of the setup.
If your using a cam designed to flow best with the LT1 heads... use the LT1 heads... if your cam is designed to flow best with the LT4 heads use the LT4 heads. It's that simple.
And just why are you giving reviews for parts that you don't even own?

I race my own and POST THE RESULTS. There are just 4 heads/cam b-bodies faster than mine, all of those have a lot more "race" parts than mine ran open exhaust to my closed and the list goes on, the guy with the top slot is floored by my cars performance and is not shy about saying mine makes a whole lot more power and believes I will pass him full weight street car to his lightened rollbared race setup "street" car. I made a great decision on my topend and post the numbers to back it up.
If you want to play with an LT1/LT4 and don't care what Ed Wright has to say then you are destined for slowness, even his competition will tell you he is a great tuner.
Few of us can afford to buy multiple sets of heads and test them so we should do research, there are a lot of folks out there sharing info, an objective eye will quickly show let one of the top shops do a set of LT1 castings and your car will fly compared to the mediocre results I have seen with LT4s on 350s. I am not even saying just AI, LE, Race Prep, Lingenfelter and the list goes on as far as shops really making LT1 castings work great.
