Most people run a ported LT1 stock version. If you use an LT4 intake than you must also use LT4 heads.

how much does porting cost and do any other mods have to be done at the same time?

There's not much involved in porting an LT1 intake, but it's not worth it unless your heads are ported also.

actually, suprisingly enough, the LT1 intake is very good from the factory. porting the intake only shows a very minimal increase in HP on stock displacement motors, and maybe an additional 5=10 more rwhp on top of that for larger displacement motors. atleast this is from what i have noticed.

I'm curious about this too... I think the shop where I got my heads done through charged about $150 for intake porting. I didn't go with it because nobody ever talked about definite gains from it. Does it even help when you're a stock bottom end N/A ?

Your gains would be very minimal for $150. I've talked to several shops that deal with LT1s (some sponsors here) and gotten the same info that Gangly posted. As long as you're using LT1 heads, the intake isn't much of a restriction. Yes, you should probably port match it for that extra little bit if your heads are ported, but it won't make a huge difference.
Surprisingly, several of those shops said that the LT4 intake does benefit quite a bit from porting if you're using that setup.
