Saw an LS1 with rod bearings that were worse than that a few weeks ago. My buddy was tearing it down for someone. He said they drove it to the shop! He said it was knocking like a mother ******. The crank journal for #1 was worn very badly. The bearing was "stuck" to the crank.
I remember reading one of your posts about a week ago and it sounded like maybe you had wiped a bearing. What kinda heads you going with?

How many miles on the motor?
What RPM were you shifting her at?
How did the other bearings look?
To what do you attribute the bearing failure?
Sorry for all of the questions, I am just a little currious.

I am looking into getting mine Ported by Port Pros, the Stage 2 setup. I got a hold of a 1993 Corvette LT1 Shortblock earlier that had blown the Head Gasket, so I am going to go look at that tomorrow. It should be a 4-bolt Main, and that will be a nice replacement for $500. I called around and getting mine machined and a new Crank will cost nearly that. Then I rebuild that, and I will be money..

I was certainly impressed with the performance for what it was. I have similar goals for my car, although you have a good weight advantage on me. Are you going to stay with the Hot Cam, or step it up a little?

I am happy with the Hot Cam, it works for me. All I wanted was a little nasty idle, and a little bit of a Cam. Alot of people say that it has alot of potential in it. When I weighed it, and everyone saw what it came in at, they were like WTF?? Then some guy wanted to buy it to turn it into a full race chassis. I was like no. That gives me the edge on the street..

That sucks, at least you get to rebuild it better though.
So what usually causes the bearings to spin? Do the main caps loose pressure on the crank or something?
Sorry, I don't know much about motors when they break, most mechanical thing I had to do so far in life is replace my head gaskets and put some new valve springs in.
