Ok, my car sucks right now.
I can't figure out whats wrong with my car... I was told it was the ignition coil, but I changed that last night, and it didn't really help.
I just seem to be getting loss of power/gas mileage, also getting backfire's/popping sounds when I let off the gas(during rev, or just cruising). And of course, one of the obvious things telling me I'm losing power(other than feel), is this.. Before I put on my long tubes, I could beat my friends mustang that ran 14.2 every time we raced, and I would beat him by a car length(high way, even more so off the line), Now, last night(+ longtubes), I BARELY pulled on my other friends 5.0 mustang that runs consistant 15.2's. In fact, at around 115 or so he caught up again. only beating him by about 1/2 a car length.
Gas mileage is an obvious loss.
What the hell is wrong with my car? (could o2's cause this type of ****? since they are at the end of my longtubes, with no other exhaust, are they maybe getting burnt up or something?)

I'm having a similar problem, exhaust pops, but only on the right side. I'm going to double check all the wires for the routeing ( no burnt wires )and for secureness. Then I'll check header gaskets.

does it ever skip? i had a power loss for a while, ended up being a chipped spark plug. had one weak cylinder, but it ran smooth. it was just a dog off the line and would pop just riding down the road, and would pop only out the left side. the cheapest thing to replace would be the plugs, long tubes will make that real fun lol. good luck

I just got a 93 and threw it on the scanner, Bank One O2 sensor is toast, it pings sometimes, and not alot of performance to me it seems, even if I just got it. Either that or as said, fuel pump, pressure regulator...
One other thought, leaky injector. Upon throttle release if some is dripping in, that could be causing the popping. Pull the rail with the injectors in, turn the key ON (not crank) and let it spray and build PSI. See if anything leaks.

Problem resolved, was running on 6 cylinders for a while, when the third one went out(wire, and plug both), it really started ******* up.
I guess that mustang lost to a v6.

I think it's 6 and 8. and the two real bad ones were completely black on the tips, I had seafoamed my car a long time ago though, and never changed them, that coulda been a part of it. Could injectors going in and out cause the plugs to die again? Hmm, what are fuel filter symptoms?

So, I started it up in the morning, and it ran ok for a min, then after alittle heat, it cut out, but not like it used to, this time it cut out -one cylinder. I parked it, let it cool(only a bit), then noticed another plug wire burned up... I changed it out(I carry an extra set on me now =\. started driving again, and it did the same ****, I'll check wires again in a bit, but god damn.
Some of the wires that were burnt before weren't even contacting the headers, do they burn from a distance? Could they maybe be shorting and burning up on thier own some how?
