Default Ebay 383 storker kits

Im seriously considering gettin the 383 stroker kit of ebay for like 800bucks and i was wondering what the deal is with them. Do they actually work well, like if you bought a stroker kit from jegs or something? Any input would be nice. Thanks alot

David

The cheap ones are gonna have the cast crank, stock type rods, and/or cast/hyper pistons. Probably would be good for n/a apps. More than likely these are Scat or Eagle parts with Keith Black pistons or something. Nothing wrong with them, just not as strong. You would probably have to worry more about installation/machining/balancing than the quality of the parts themselves. For a street car, probably would be just fine.

OIC what's up with these things. I wouldn't fool with the internal balance personally. With the external balance, you don't have to mod your flywheel/flexplate.

Did I say there was anything wrong with SCAT? NO. I said the cheaper kits have Eagle crank and SCAT cranks. Why did I say that? Cuz Eagle and SCAT offer cast cranks at the cheapest prices. That's why your cheap kits includes those two brands, cuz they are widely available at the best price. Cheap as in price, no quality. If you'll look back at my post I said there was nothing wrong with these components, it's just that the type of components in the kit are not as strong (as the forged).

All you have to do is take the weight off... nothing to it

I went with this setup... works great. 200 shot of NOS no Probs. You should get forged internals

IMO If you are going to build a 383 and cost is an issue then I would take a little more time to get the forged internals, In the long run you will save money if you are really building a 383 to run hard then you want forged internals.

Knowing me though I would probably grind into the flexplate and break it.
