Default Whats needed to run beehives?

I just recently bought a new cam and valvetrain for my car and here are the parts:

CC503 cam
1305-16 CC Pro-Magnum Rockers 7/16" stud (1:6 ratio)
26918-16 CC Beehive Spring
795-16 CC Steel Retainers (LT1 for 918 springs)
611-16 CC 10 degree Lock (11/32 super lock)
134-7103 Arp (Rocker Arm Stud) 7/16"
14011051 GM Guide Plates
4705-16 seats

I called Comp already and the guy told me I had to measure everything before he could tell me if these were the right parts for the LT1 head. So I figured I'd ask you all and see because I'm sure plenty of you are running 918's. So are these the right part numbers for my stock untouched LT1 head? I think the locks are wrong but I don't know what else. Also are the springs overkill for this cam since the lift is only like .536 .544? Please inform me!!!

Also all this stuff is still sealed in packages and Comp said I could send them back as an exchange for the correct parts.

26918-16 CC Beehive Spring
795-16 CC Steel Retainers (LT1 for 918 springs)
611-16 CC 10 degree Lock (11/32 super lock)

I plan on running these parts with my 306, those parts should be fine for sure.

There is a major thread on ImpalaSSforum.com on beehive valve springs. It covers all LT1 heads, aluminum and iron. Worth a checkout.

my exact setup for almost a year now... no problems as of yet, and still seems to be just fine. on top of that I did buy the pushrods that have the tips welded on (can't remember the part# but they were only like... $27 dollars)

go for it, you won't regret it.

as long as you get the proper installed spring height which is 1.800" your mint. I have them on my ported heads, Bret did them personally, they kick ***.

Well I really wanted to get everything ahead of time so it can just be installed without too much down time waiting for parts and such. Basically I don't want to take it apart and measure then buy parts and have to wait for them to arrive.

So are these the correct part numbers for the LT1, and are the springs overkill for the lift of the cam?

there are very few springs you can run that would support that lift in the diameter that will fit in the stock seat.

I run a 918 behive springs and they work great. All the locks retainers and push rods are also comp. But I run Crower 1.6 RRs

Lloyd Elliot uses the 918's with his custom ground cam, which is a little bigger than the GM-847 cam

So we can all agree that I'll be ok with the parts I have?

Did you get the + .050 locks?

With comp seats and 10º hardware you'll have a 1.70" installed height, the + .050 locks will get you 1.75" (or somewhere around there)

The 918 beehives coil bind at 1.14 and comp recommends an extra .060 before coil bind.

So if you use with the locks you have now they'll coil bind a .560 lift, which you can still run, but I would get the + .050 locks for the extra .060 that comp recommends.

My guides needed machine work on 1992 LT1 aluminum heads to run those springs with matching comp parts.

Also those 7/16 studs are longer than your stock studs. Mine bottomed out in head before contacting guide. I wound up cutting approx 1/8 off as per CompCams recommendation. Log onto their site and you can see the difference in length for 3/8 vs 7/16.

I also needed different valve covers t clear the rockers.

etc,etc,etc

bringing this thread back from the dead.

I originally installed the LT4 springs at 1.78. with using the locks from the kit I got 1.73-1.745 not good. I needed different locks to get the LT4 springs to 1.78. now with that being said, I don't want any problem i.e. VALVE FLOAT. So I want to do 918s and I am trying to figure out what parts to get so I don't have a problem with the install height again. I need the 918s at 1.75-1.78 no higher. what do you suggest I get so I don't have to wait for more parts and dick around. thanks. part numbers if possible.
