Thanks Dave. I ran my front Hal's at #1 setting so the front end was really flying up at launch, so much that the tires were a few inches in the air. Never done that before but I think I like it!
I'm thinking a 3500 stall, 4.10 gear and some 325/50/15 M/T DR's might get me some 1.4 60's and a shot at 10.99.
This is with a motor that pulls 13 inches of vacuum at 850 rpm and I drive 65 miles one way to the track. You don't need a big *** cam to run hard, just ask ABBA383.

Really good times . If you can get a few hundred more pounds of the car that will be 10's. Where are you shifting at with your setup 6500???
I guess those LT4 LE heads are working I happen to have a pair as well that are on the bench at home for my 383. Are you running the LE2 cam?? My buddy is about to install one in his 355 and we are wondering how the car is going to react to it (By looking at it, it appears it would not be tame if you know what I mean).
How do you like the Th400 2.48 First gear with the 3:73's, makes me wonder if it would run a 10 with a 4L60E since the 1st gear in the 60E would hit harder. But God knows it can't take the abuse the Th400 can.
Any way congrats and NICE MPH for the Weight and the rest of the mods.
Its good to see someone UTILIZING an LE combo with good track prep. Tired of seeing people cut 2.2 60's and wonder why they are running 12.5 in there 3850 lb car, lol.

Man, I would leave that combo alone. I had a 3500 stall when I had my 4L80E and it was a bit too much for the street for me. I know other people run them and are fine, but that is just my opinion. With a 4.10 gear, what rpm would you be turning at the end of the 1/4? If you have to get into the 10's, I say spray it. Good luck.

I shift around 6400-6500.
Loosing 200 lbs and .05 on my 60ft should get a 10.9x
Weight reduction is the smart way to go. It makes you faster and is easier on parts.
The LE3 LT4 heads are really working well. They are the cornerstone of this motor.
I think my cam is slightly smaller than the LE2 with 230 @ .050
After toasting 4 4l60e's I learned to like the TH400's 2.48.
One year ago I was running 12.0's at 113 with this same longblock. I changed exhaust, tires, tune, some weight reduction, and added EWP, Spohn torque arm, and Strange 12-bolt. I also corrected an intake manifold port mismatch which I think helped.
If I went 4.10 I would need to increase the rear tire diameter which would help the launch.
Spraying is not on the table right now.
This is not a DD. It's my weekend playtoy.

Did you notice or pick up anything with true duals? I like the idea of 2 3" pipes over my Borla cat back...
Anyway, congrats, you'll hit the 10s soon...Going with 4.10s now may even do it...with a 26" tire you should cross at around 6300 with 4.10s...We are both going across now at 5900-6000...

Sup Alan.
Get the QA1's with the front springs too. They work. But they drop the front end too much. My spanner nut is wayyy high on the shock and I use .5 " shock spacers also.
Do the 3" duals with an X. It will help Especially with a bigger cam.
Do the 4.10 and 325's and tell me how you like it.
I would rather give up some high gear rpm to gain some tire diameter to handle a harder launch. 60 ft is where its at.

Be prepared for very little ground clearance if you X your 3" in the center of the car like I did. If you offset it to the pass side you gain much clearance but then you are limited to bullets because the pipes are running so close together on the same side.

Dean, Good times! Your right in there with Alan for the small cam 383 running!
Ben, what did I tell you about thinking about cam specs!!!!! Just leave them alone and see how they run, cause that's all that matters anyways.
Ditto.... Lot more than just throwing a motor into a car gets this done.

Thanks Bret.
I just stayed after it trying to get the combo sorted out and its finally paying off. I don't think there's a whole lot left in it cause raceday was perfect weather.
I'll try to get the 2 tenths without touching the motor. It's really running too sweet to change for the moment but you know hotrodders!
Alan, that exhaust setup sounds trick. I'd like to see it when it's finished.

Yeah, I wouldn't touch that motor! Drop some weight, add gear/tire, say a prayer, face east, whatever, but I'd lock the hood shut! Gotta make Georgia and Baltimore a little closer...I'd like to see your car...I'll let you know how the exhaust goes...I just hope I gain something or the wife will commit multiple felonies on me..(and not the goooood kind)...

what kind of numbers are you making? the times sound good just a little lower than i thought you would see out of LE3's. and im assuming that you're talking about CAM in durham,nc. im not ******* on CAM but i would say that if you want to go more aggressive on the tune that you could squeeze some more out of it. from everything im putting together and everyone ive talked to i should be going low 11s on LE2s and a 383. just my thoughts though.
