Default LT1 or LS1

I need an opinion. I love to drag race and am almost finished my chassis and hopefully have the 12 bolt mosier in soon. Before I do any engine mods I need some opinions. I have a 1le car I was told, it has no options but power hatch and AC(which has been deleted). Should I spend money on the LT1 or should I put a LS1 in itan do the LS1 up. Help me cause I am soooo confused.

LSx.

The LTx are great, but youll always be 50rwhp+ less then LSx based engines.

Lt1 stroker. Would be a lot less $$. the swap to ls1 alone will cost as much as building a good stroker unless you have a donor car. Oh and I am pretty sure 1le cars came with AC delete from the factory.

I give this thread a day or two before its locked.

Anyways, if you arent looking to spend a whole lot of dough, I suggest you stay with the LT1, maybe a head and bigger cam treatment or even a bottom end refreshment and slapping on a turbo or a s/c.

But like said above if you have the money, go for a LS1,2 or even 6,

But if you really have the dough, go for an LT5 haha just kidding, no Im not

It goes to **** because you guys say it will.

To swap an LS1 isnt that expensive. And its dirt cheap if you have an LSx donor.

Money is the devil when it comes to building cars I know. I wanted to build the LT1 and the combo I was going to start with is I was going to put the LT4 hot cam kit, double roller timing chain, freshin up the bottom end and put ARB bolts throughout. A mild port and polish on the intake and heads and put some 202 and 190's in the heads. Then I was going to put a MSD optispark distributer on it. Once That was finished I was going to put a supercharger on it a year later. Oh yea I would put a fuel system to accomidate my mods. Then I was told "why do all that when you can put a LS1 in ti and do half the stuff and go faster. Either or I can do the work or the swap myself. Is my LT1 plans a good start or should I go LS1. I ran a 13.0 on a stock motor so what would this LT1 setup halp me run,NA and supercharged. Input an views are apprichiated.thanx

I'm not trying to start a pissing match here, just going to give some insight on cost wise.

You have the LT1 already. You don 't have to change anything over or modify any wiring to make it work in your already LT1 equipped car. For the cost of an LS1 conversion, you could have a nice setup LT1 that could be in the 10's if you built it right. The LS1 will always be a faster motor stock for stock, but, why not have the underdog that can easily blow one away? Thats just how I think. It would save you a ton on cash. You could build yourself a 396 that would put down some major power. Or possibly and blown 383 with N2O. There's alot you can do and if you really want to do it. But, its your car, so, I say go for what you want. Your car reflects you, put your own twist into it.

Hahahahaha good one

I still think finding a LSx donor car would be a pain, then paying for it would be another story, because I seriously doubt the owner would want to just part with the engine if its in good condition, leaving the broken shell

LT4(LT1 upgrade) has more power than a LS1, just letting you know so i saw it doesnt really matter bud, whatever you like better go with that, its not ones better than the other...

if you want proof go to my site (fbpracing.com) and check out my comparison of engines in the tech section.

WELL THEN I'm going to get in on this befor it gets locked

I say punch the LT1 as big as you can get pistons for, get the biggest crank, some titatium rods, and shoot for 427cid Try to get ahold of an LT4 intake, some sweet heads, and then send them out to get ported to the max. N/A all the way, and when you're all said and done, you'll probably need to upgrade that 12bolt lol

Or get an LT5 as said There's an LT5 dedicated site that has them for sale. Oddly not as much as I thought. I was expecting like $8K heh, but only like $2-3K.

ORRRRR Go ***** out and get a World Motors 638cid BBC with 900hp out of the crate Comes with a carb too I believe. Only costs $13K >_> lol Cam it good, upgrade the heads, drop on a Weiand 1471 (or whatever the biggest for BBC is) and call it a day around 1300hp lol
