Default Totally Stock Internal LT1 6spd goes 12.384@109+

Record setting day at Atco!

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I finally got what I have been chasing for awhile. The Totally Stock Internal Naturally Aspirated 6 spd LT1 record. The previous record was 12.48. I beat it today at Atco with a 12.467@ 108.99 and then backed that up with the new record of 12.384@109.47. It took awhile for the track to start sticking but once it did WOW. I actually was able to get a tire off the ground. I have a video of all the passes along with timeslips. Overall I am very happy and also curious to see how much more it still has in it. The car has a completly untouched LT1 engine with 61,000 origional miles on it. My dad bought it new and I've owned it for the past 4 years now. There are still plenty of more hardcore parts I could put on it like a lightweight k member, a arms, drag shocks etc.......but i'm also thinking a sick Ai Heads and Cam package...
Well it was a hell of a last day at Atco for the season. I had a ton of fun and there was alot of other fast *** cars there too. I have a video of a guy in a 06 ZO6 running 10.97 with just drag radials....They are some sick *** cars
Thanks again to everyone that helped me out along the way .

I love LT1's and 12's with bolt ons/stock internals is easy if you know what to get and how to drive.
But an 11's sec stock internal LT1 is nothing else but a freak on a leash.

Awesome times man, you must be one good driver and take good care of your LT1.
Normally I just type congrats, but for you, congratulations!

Its good to see that the LT1 is still taking names. I know mine is.

Yeah, Shon has the bolt on record. I think this guy is saying "totally stock internal", which would be correct. Shon has 1.6s, sick suspension and massive weight reduction, 3 things that his car doesn't have.

Congrats to you, though. That's moving for sure. What are you launching at? 60' ? 1/8th? Any vids?

Yea Shon has the bolt on record, and I have the Totally Stock internal 6spd record. The car has an untouched LT1, stock k member, stock a arms, stock springs and shocks, still has the bumper supports, I never cut out anything from my car...just some simple weight reduction at the track. I still have a full exhaust with a cutout( muffler and tailpipes must weight close to 40lbs.) For the 12.38 run I did a mean 2nd gear burnout and launched at 5,100 just dropping the clutch and flooring it. I powershifted every shift at my 5800 shift light. I think with a 5500-6000 rpm launch and 6000 rpm shifts I should get close to another tenth if it sticks. I might keep going for a lower time with the totally stock Internal engine....Might try to go 11's with an untouched LT1 motor....
My buddy was able to get some videos and hopefully I'll be able to post them soon. I have all the timeslips as well. Thanks to everyone that has given me props.
I'd Just like some distinction between a Bolt On record and a stock internal record because they are two different things. Bolt ons being with stock heads, cam, and bottom end..and Totally stock internal being just that...Untouched LT1

Tony.
Stock Internal by definition is Stock internal parts...ie everything that touches oil(valve covers to oil pan) He has the bolt on record but when it comes to a TOTTALLY STOCK INTERNAL UN TOUCHED LT1 6SPD than i have that record.

rockers are considered bolt ons...but my record is for Totally stock Internal LT1...no rockers, springs, retainers etc. My engine is all origional from the GM plant with 61,000 miles.

Not trying to sound like a dick here, but you're starting to sound like a broken record. Your times are great, but you're getting a little obscure.

I mean, I could have the "Fastest Bottom Ended Hot Cammed LT1 on the 3rd Thursday of July" Record

I'm not trying to steal your thunder, your times are great. Put that thing on a diet and get some more hardcore suspension parts and you'll be sailing. Just.. take a slight chill pill when people are telling you that you don't have the "Bolt-On" Record.

Congrats!
Just so others can get an idea what 1.6RR/LT4 VS's are worth, NOT 6 tenths. So dont think that swap is going to pick a car up that much.

95z:who did the tuning? Sure wish I had mine on the dyno to put a good tune in it.

Should I just put the stock motor back in with stock rockers/springs and see what can happen?

LOL I'm relaxed,....I was just trying to explain the difference between Stock Internals and Bolt Ons....and if you had the "Fastest Bottom Ended Hot Cammed LT1 on the 3rd Thursday of July" Record" then that would be a lil obscure...lol

Dont worry I plan on going faster. I was just chasing this record for awhile even though its not the bolt on record

Thanks Shon. I know the rockers, springs wont add more then 2 tenths...but all the othermods will get me in the 11's(spool, no bumper supports, higher launch/shift rpm, k member, a arms, drag shocks and springs etc)

Bryan Herter did the tuning about 1 1/2 years ago on a dyno.

If you put the stock rockers, springs, and retainers in your car you'd probably have the fastest totally Stock Internal LT1 then lol until I get all my hardcore parts installed

Just strip it down like I did and see how quick it will go. I do not think 11.80 at 3100#s is the fastest the LT1 can go. I think at 3100 it could run in the 11.7s and with even more weight reduction it could go 11.6s easy, I think the 'limit' with all the stuff out there than can be done to the cars to make them lighter would be 11.5x. that is just 300#s with no other changes, ie dyno time, EASY!!

Congrats on the new best and setting your personal record. I am another that is not trying to put you down but I agree with WhyHelloOfficer a little here. If we start making up records that match our combos this can get rediculous, and I would have the fastest N/A bolt-on 2.73 all stock suspension car...

Years ago, and magazine/board competitions and sanctioned races laid it out for us that in those "Class" competitions SI/Bolt-on are one in the same. Most of us have held on to this as a standard...

Either way, great showing out there and those are some damn good times. But, like Shon said, you can getting it a lot faster by dropping weight rather then adding the rockers and get your SI record into the 11's...
