the lt1 will get worse mileage. It's because of how the fuel systems are setup. the ls1 is Sequential injection which fires the injectors one at a time, the lt1 is Multiport fuel injection which pulses the entire bank of 4 cylinders at a time. I do also agree that lt1s are fun for cruising cuz their torque comes in alot lower.

94 and up cars are indeed sequential fuel injection and yes the ls1 cars do get slightly better milage but not by much i have seen 28-29 mpg at most with my car usually im sitting at about 27 mpg witht the cruise set at 80
im sure if i ever did go on a long trip going slower like around 70 or so i could see closer to 29-30 mpg

Better yet, the Ultimate Lt1 Newbie Faq sticky is a good place to look for this kind of information too.

think I'm getting like 10mpg...I honestly don't know, but it's not a pretty picture, she' likes ONLY high octane...she LOVES race fuel...$$$$$$ so it's a treat to get to drive her around, just expensive...price you pay for ridiculous setups I guess
