If you get a good deal on a 58, it won't hurt. My TPI, I found a good deal on a 58mm BBK, so I got it. Ported my upper plenum to match the 58mm (acctually I made it to match a mono-blade if I had one heh) and I noticed a substantial gain. Even with all the nay-say about 58mm on mostly stock motor. The gain is more than the loss at 58mm. Then you always have it when/if you punch more cubes out of the motor.

My TPI is identical to my 93's TB except for the TPS, which I'm converting. So I'll be slapping that 58 on my here soon.

Do you have data to back that up? If so, please elaborate.

If you're forced induction or a pretty aggressive h/c setup with stock cubes or bigger then you will benefit from a larger throttle body and ported intake manifold.

I'm not that guy, but I do have an instumented gain going from my stock 48mm to a BBK 58mm. I gained 12 rwhp on the Dynojet, swapping the the TBs on the dyno(I previously opened the intake up to a 58mm opening). I wasn't stock at time, having the HOT cam, ported heads and all the other intake and exhaust bolt-ons.

gains from larger TBs come with increasing engine operating range. Simply note if you measure you're vacuum at WOT and you have more than 2" of it, then you have an intake restriction, whether it be the intake tubing, filter, or the TB.

How much of a tuning change did you make after the swap? What was you AFR before and after?

Thanks,

Daren

i traded my fog lights for a 58mm tb, hella deal! So i have that on my car and it works awsome. Cant wait till i get everything tuned for each other. I got a intake and LT's dumped to help with the extra air getting out. So everything is flowing real good. And i didnt lose ANY low end power like everyone says. If your gonna upgrade, its a waste of money to go in "steps", just buy a 58 and call it a day.
