kinked heater hose? clogged/failed heater core? heater hoses hooked up incorrectly/not hooked up at all? Not to insult your engine install skills, but I know its always simple stuff like that with me. I dunno (maybe my skills suck, lol), but those are the first things that come to mind and that I would check out first.

You are letting it reach operating temperature before you turn on the heater right? W/ a 180 deg. 'stat in mine, it takes a good 20 min to warm up enough to have a working heater.

if you have 175-180 degree, prob more if you scan it, it has to be your heater core. If you were not even moving the temp guage I would then question sensors or possibly the thermo or the waterpump
