The problem with any other type of valve cover is that it doesn't have the notch for the alternator on the passenger side.

The only option really is some custom fabricated ones, or Canton makes a pretty nice piece as well.

Are you saying there's an adapter to switch from centerbolt to perimeter valve cover's? If so, can you post a link to the product?

Part # TFS-31500811

They are pretty expensive but it is nice to have a huge selection of the perimeter bolton valvecovers.

Hey-hey.. take notice of the notes :

"This is an adapter that allows centerbolt heads to use perimeter bolt valve covers. Narrow body rocker arms are required to clear the adapter."

Might be a problem, might not...

If you do decide to buy some, these are the ones you need:

Alot of those adapters put the o-ring on the perimeter and set it into a square rabbet joint. The problem is that half the rail still makes metal to metal contact with the top of the rocker wall, and doesn't allow for adequate clamping pressure on the o-ring for it to seal tightly enough. The above pictured ones place the o-ring at dead center of the rail which puts all the clamping force directly onto it, preventing seepage. Those adapters also don't require narrow body rockers like the Trickflows do.

So this would allow me use some vintage SBC covers on an LT1 (assuming I relocated the alternator)?

Those Jegs adapters look really nice. Who makes them? Yup, you'll be able to use any old style SBC valve cover-provided you move the alternator.

I clearanced mine, I have the Trick Flow ones. They leaked, got it fixed but the ones that thesoundandfury posted are a lot nicer.
