Default MSD 6AL took a sht I think?

Well I drove out to the shop to work on this 98 neon me and my girl got yesterday and i was gonna go get some gas for it with the bird.. turn the key...... 10 seconds...15 seconds... ok 35 seconds later cranking it busts off idles at around 1,100 then goes to 300-400 says check gauges then back to 1,200 and 400 at that point i cut it off, wouldnt fire after that.. anyways

screwdriver in plug - no spark
end of opti wire - no spark
MSD blaster coil - no spark

tryed a stock coil + ignition module no go...

has to be my 6AL.. checked grounds and everything.. battery is good at 13-14 volts optima red top

MSD wires, MSD Opti, MSD Coil, MSD 6AL, NGK 6AL

no spark so now the car is sitting next to a dead neon that ironically is getting fuel pump work while the bird is only getting fuel

hmm...that sucks man, sure its not just the opti rather than the coil?

Anyhow, good luck man, you'll figure it out!

it won't fire at all.. opti woulda showed some warning signs it fired up that morning 45 minutes before.. drove 7-8 miles idled fine to.. and 50-60 miles yesterday..

I already had a GM opti with MSD cap-rotor go after 500 but the gm part had sat for awhile... so I could see it going bad maybe

there would be some spark of some sort atleast.. like i said my mechanic held the wires to my valvecover/bolt/screwdriver whatever and nothing damn this $$$ **** that breaks its all new

This is why you should have stuff onhand to bypass such parts. I just put an Accel box on my car mostly for the rev limiter but with the harness it simply plugs in, I can go back to completely stock in moments.

Comment the first time around but here it is now.

Reality is that if you are going to modify a car be prepared to deal with some occassional issues, spending the extra $25 on the plugin harness so you can go back to stock in moments would be an example of such preparedness.

MSD is not bad but IMO is another one of those companies that is more reputation than results. The way you have to buy 20 accessories to get them to be truely functional is a joke.
Ignition upgrades are largely wasted till you boost or juice these cars and if I were doing one of those the Mallory with integrated retard, rev limit, window switch etc.
I put on the Accel one because I got it DIRT cheap and two because at the level I am at now the cut the fuel rev limiter of the pcm scares me. If it actually helps at high rpms that are beyond what the stocker is rated for that will be a bonus but not something I expect.

No issues with my 6a, but when the opti was going out, I took the 6a out for trouble shooting. I wish I had the plug and play harness, as it is a pain wiring and rewiring the damn thing.
