Default Underdrive pulley is killing me..

Underdrive pulley has always killed me i really dont drive the car much due to gas prices and such but today i decided to fire it up did a oil/filter change last night and when its cold idling (going up and down) the lights dim and flicker and @ idle its like 10-11 volts the battery is a brand new red top.. what todo? maybe a alt pulley or what?

On an A4 car, you really should have the Alternator overdrive pulley. Thunder Racing has them for about $25-$30.

Get the altenator pulley and corresponding belt. Just call Thunderracing if you aren't sure about belt size.

If you wanna ghetto measure a belt size, take a piece of string and run it where your pulley goes. Make sure it is in line (i.e. in the same groove on each accessory). Tie it or mark it and measure, there is your belt length.

or maybe you could take your belt off and take it to the parts store and have them measure it to a new one?

Hey man I feel your pain. I have a 1994 Formula w/ an A4. I just put on an u/d pulley and I'm having the same problem. @ an idle I'm charging at 10-11 volts and as soon as i give it gas it goes up to 13-14 volts. I'll be getting the o/d alt. pulley in a few weeks so hopefully it'll help I'll let you know if you pm me in a few weeks. Good luck!
